Can anyone point me to a live video feed for this game? It could just be on cable in this benighted baseball-playing and cockfighting country where I now am, but if they have anything it is more likely to be the Portugal match. Mind you that might be a lot more entertaining. Ireland were better to watch when their team under Jack Charlton was mainly composed of Englishmen.
Englishman in peace Well played the Republic of Ireland, pretty much through to the finals now Will be cheering you guys on.....unless your against us lol
Yes, well done. Estonia are no Spain, but none of these away matches are easy, as England have found out. English fans usually cheer on Scotland, Wales and both Irelands. Not sure they always return the compliment though. Thanks, Jeffers', but I missed the match anyway. My best friend's house got robbed by two guys with handguns while he was at my place. The police caught the two robbers and executed them with shots to the head on the grass verge outside his house. That's how they do things in the country where I presently am. So the girlfriend and I had a bit of counselling to do. He was a bit shaken. Had he not been visiting us he might have been killed himself. On the other hand he might not have lost his laptop and two cameras had he stayed at home. (No chance of getting them back from the police. They would consider that their bonus for a job well done). We shall never know.
The referee goes down in the all-time list of Irish football heroes, alongside Gary Mackay, Valeri Aleksanyan, and Roman Berezovski. Wish I could say I agreed with all of his decisions. Still, I think we would have won about 2-0 without him. Great result for Ireland, hope we draw England in the finals if we make it there.
Tremendous result and very pleased for Robbie Keane and for Jonathan Walters, wonderful, whole-hearted player IMO. Tallinn's a damned good place to celebrate in as well...
RE: Tallinn. When I was there there wasn't much doing. Slightly more enjoyable than Helsinki... Maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood. I am delighted for all of the team. I'll be looking at Poland/Ukraine over the weekend. Any Charlton fans going?
Can I recommend a watch of the Cyprus v. Scotland highlights to everyone - three lovely goals, especially Kenny Miller's which is top class. The Cyprus forwards looked pretty lively. Must be Chris Dickson's influence...
Well done IA, WWOCB and Eddie imagine that's job done as you have only shipped in one goal in last @10 isn't it? The two second bookings looked right to me IA so you can only be questioning their first bookings?
The first sending off, absolutely fair enough. Second one (their captain), the decisions were probably correct by the letter of the laws, but it felt a bit harsh. Same for the penalty. They were the types that a big country/club gets and a small one doesn't, or it felt like that at the time. Even in my worst nightmares, I can't imagine a Trapattoni team conceding 5 to Estonia at home. As you mention, the last two teams to score against us were Armenia a month ago and Norway over a year ago. The Estonians picked up a lot of bookings, so I'd say a few of them won't be playing in Dublin.
IA. I don't know where you trained to be an expert, must have been a different place than any Irish fan. Just because the referee acts on what he sees I don't how he can be said to have greatly helped the Irish. The one decision that I might change my mind on of all the major decisions, was the penalty decision to Hunt. First time I thought it was a penalty but on subsequent viewing, of course referee did not have the opportunity, it looked far more manufactured by Hunt.
