Again I say the Cost of Living is not down to the Monarchy or the money spent on the Coronation. It is down to poor Government and World related problems.
The money spent on the event is down to public demand and a lot of it is investment in something that will bring in a lot of financial return through the commerce generated. SadIy it is unfortunate that the threat of lawbreaking and civil unrest creates the need for expensive security measures, that is where you should apportion blame. Peoples lives have to be considered.

I'm not sure that's true locum. 62% in favour of a monarchy was across all ages but only 36% of 18-24 year olds feel the same. The vast majority of monarchists are in the older age groups. That shouldn't be taken as a sure sign of decline leading to the end of royalty though. When 18-24 years stop thinking about only themselves and see the value of non materialistic matters, they will also be part of an older generation and maybe a different viewpoint.

Thank you for your contribution towards it, assuming you are earning enough to pay income tax and are not one of those on the breadline?

The sentence is exactly why some younger people have no respect for the older generation. <doh>

You mean like when people get older and take the “I’m alright Jack” approach to politics and vote Tory?

Funnily enough I was recently made redundant. I haven't been able to sign on yet as I have too much money at the moment, partly thanks to my payout. I'm having a sabbatical at the moment.

I wouldn't vote Tory if you paid me, which I suspect must happen or why would so many do it? My 3 local labour candidates won through this time, but only 20% voted, presumably the Tory voters couldn't be bothered.

Not just no respect for the older generation but no respect for anything else. And they think they know everything, stay in bed until 1pm and don't wash very often.

I am a Pensioner still paying Income Tax but I don't begrudge paying it, if it is funding good causes. It is strange that I got an increase this year, which is deducted from my Tax Allowance, leaving me net worse off than last year!

The older generation have equally as bad a attitude IMO. Been around so long they think they own the gaff.

Yes, exactly. Only it was just the younger generation I was referring to in this case because at the moment they are mostly republicans. For whatever reason, a lot of people do change as they get older. It's not a myth.

Some people care a lot for something so boring. Why waste energy on moaning?

I’ve got on with my life, not watched it, but certainly won’t waste time complaining about it, especially about money and the Wikipedia knowledge on economics.

This is exactly how it is for me. I don't personally give a sh*t, but if it makes thousands of people happy then cool, go nuts.

Sports events are equally dumb at the end of the day, and yet we are happy for the govt to spend money on them.

You are right, a lot of people cared very much, boring it was not, perhaps you should have watched it and found out. What exactly is exciting in your life? Following the Saints isn't ringing any bells lately?

Saints is boring, and an absolute chore to go and watch a game <laugh>

It’s great that everyone is different and find things interesting. I will never be one to protest or hate something that doesn’t in theory affect my life in any way.

I enjoyed watching it…love history and pageantry. Basically our USP…expect a rise in tourists over next year. Have admiration for Charles…ahead of his time with regard to conservation.

People want an elected head of state. Fine, I disagree but it's opinion. However, look at the dogs dinner elections that past voting has had on the country. The majority screwing it up time after time.

Conservatives in power, Boris Johnson & Brexit are enough reasons to not allow more voting rights on to the public. All wrong decisions that have made our living standards much worse. Again, just my viewpoint.

Let the royal family be. They have their flaws, we all do, but for me, they are very much the lesser of evils. Imagine the voting public voting someone like Boris to be an elected head of state. The mere thought makes me shudder.

As for the coronation, I loved it. Some impressive sights, and ts all part of our traditions and heritage. Long may they continue!

We'd have Kingy McKingface if it was left to a public vote.

Wouldn't be any less pointless tbf, and I expect people would queue up to see them wave
