My beef with Brent is the fact that anything he puts his name to just does not arrive. Not when it should arrive but ever. You may excuse what he does as normal notdistant as you obviously have some background in the business world but to us ordinary folk it looks very very dodgy indeed. You can see how this comes across. Example.....I will dig your garden if you pay me £50. Okay here is the £50 and the tools are in the shed. In those circumstances any normal thinking person would expect their garden to be dug anytime soon. However in BrentWorld the reality is it never is. Not that it is late or takes too long but that he took the £50 and didn't even pick up a spade to start. Sounds like something the Traveller Community might be condemned for but people like him don't. He comes across as a charleton with no scruples who if called out just puts the company into bancruptcy whilst his own cash goes in a different direction. But then that's ok isn't it as it isn't illegal even if it is immoral.
Are there signs that Scotland is imploding. First the SNP seem to be going out of their way to be unelectable. Now the Scottish NHS is being the centre of wokism and political correctness. A male GP has been prevented from donating blood to the Scottish NHS after he refused to confirm whether or not he was pregnant....Steffen McAndrew , who works in Prestwick South Ayrshire, said he has been turned away from a blood donation centre in nearby Ayr after he refused to answer the "bonkers" question. The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) claimed the question had been introduced a year ago for "donor safety" with everyone expected to confirm if they are pregnant or had been recently, regardless of their sex. The service said it was updating the wording on its form, following a backlash, but still plans to have male donors respond to a question about whether or not they are pregnant. Dr McAndrew said he had been a regular blood donor before the pandemic, and booked an appointment to donate at Belmont Academy on Tuesday for the first time since Covid struck. However a nurse told him he would be unable to go ahead with the donation after he declined to answer the question on pregnancy which he suspected was included to "placate and pacify the gender brigade". Some transgender activists say it is possible for men to become pregnant, as they believe trans men, who were born female. are literally men. However. Dr McAndrew said he was a man and "therefore I cannot be pregnant". Dr McAndrew told 'The Herald' : "I can't believe they would refuse a donation from a man based on the fact I refused to say if I was pregnant. I can also understand those who have suggested, 'tick the box', to enable a donation. However it is the principle of the matter. To say it is bonkers is an understatement. I have a nagging feeling that it is political correctness gone too far, trying to placate and pacify the gender brigade. Daily Telegraph...Friday...14/04/2023. Oh for a political party to emerge to counter all this wokism, political correctness and the erasing of history as if it never happened......someone please emerge from the woodwork please and start calling a fork a fork etc etc.
Apparently, Plymouth is to rival Barcelona once the present controversy over the replacing of trees dies down. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/plymouth-city-centre-beautiful-like-8350035 We stayed in an hotel on Las Ramblas when we went to the Spanish GP some years ago. It is a beautiful city with a marvellous blend of the ancient and modern. Of course, this was largely achieved by hosting the 1992 Olympics and the awe inspiring never-to-be-completed Gaudi cathedral. I don't see either of those coming Plymouth's way. This may be a ridiculous comparison but he has a point... most projects starts with demolition.
Plymouth Council Chief....acting leader Mark Shayer....reckons the City Centre will be "beautiful" just like Barcelona by 2025. Can he guarantee the same for Argyle by 2025 that they will be playing like Barcelona by 2025.
Playing like Barca is one thing. Not teetering on the brink of insolvency is another, as are not having penalties applied under Financial Fair Play rules and not being embroiled in a referee corruption investigation.
The wheels of the political correct Brigade grind on. The Brecon Beacons has fallen foul to their thinking......Officials responsible for the South Wales Park announced yesterday that it should be renamed the "Bannan Brycheiniog" National Park because the symbol of a carbon-emitting beacon goes against its efforts to fight climate change. John Humphrys says..."As a proud Welshman they will always be the Brecon Beacons to me". It follows A similar move by the Snowdonia National Park Authority last year to use Welsh names for the mountain and the region. These name changes into Welsh language places is rather strange....seeing that no more than 18% of Welsh people can speak Welsh.
I’d be grateful if people could just pronounce Cornish place names properly in English. This applies especially to presenters on BBC local TV. I’m happy to see a mix of people presenting but it’s not much to ask.
Its bad enough for so called green fans to be unable to spell their so-called heros names correctly.....one of the players who can get spelt wrongly is Gillesphey.
HERE WE GO AGAIN. Manchester United and Manchester City are facing calls to amend their club badges amid suggestions that the ships on their motif are linked to slavery. Anti-discrimination campaigners have called for interrogation of potential links between the logos and the city benefiting from the trade. United and City declined to comment in response, although a source to the clubs told 'Telegraph Sport' there were no plans to review logos for either teams. Daily Telegraph...Thursday...20/04/2023. Club motifs with ships on it.......OH that rings a bell....but isn't the Mayflower too early and linked to Puritans and religious freedom......But didn't some of the Puritans have servants who might have been classed as slaves by the politically correct brigade ? But how long was the Mayflower afloat....might of it years late moored alongside a slave ship or even had a slave walk on its decks....or had crew who might of previously worked on a slave ship. Maybe to be safe and sure we should change our motif to say the Smeaton Tower (painted green and white of course) or the Barbican...anything but a 17th century sailing ship.
I am surprised at how much furore there is against Dominic Raab..... on the TV, Radio and some newspapers. I think Raab doesn't get on well with those that don't have the same committment to the job as he does....talk of him at times working 15 hours a day. The Civil Service is a juggernaut and works at its own pace.....and because they are career men ....they get annoyed with politicians who are there at the whim of the electorate for only up to 5 years or less at a time. Of all the cases brought against him only two could be found that showed him up to being out of line.....and those Raab felt where not dealt with properly. The TV programmes Yes Minister and Yes PM come to mind and Sir Humphrey not liking his boat to be rocked from the controlling of the Ministers that he was supposed to be working for. Some of these... 'Overlords'...I feel try to control what is done.....and to come back to our favourite subject...BREXIT....I feel that they have gone forward with the break fully engaged....and I also think that Dominic Raab felt that as well.
Well his civil servants aren’t the only ones who have very serious concerns about Brexit spin-offs like rewriting human rights legislation in a way that appeals to Daily Mail readers and voters in marginal northern constituencies. At one time, Britain had a proud record in establishing international norms and encouraging what were regarded as backward third world countries to adopt them. In fact, occasionally the British military was sent in to separate blood thirsty factions. How our reputation is being tarnished now….
I will just ask you one question or maybe two if I may Plymborn. The first being to ask what experience you have of how Civil Servants work for their political masters. The second is what experience do you have of working in any office at all? The answer to some extent is you know what you think you know from reading it in stories in the press mainly which are told by Politicians rather than unbiased people. Civil Servants hardly ever if at all speak in public about anything. If your boss worked 15 hours a day would you have done the same? I don;t think you would have unless you were being paid a lot of overtime to do it. I have worked in many offices and for all kinds of bosses in my time. Some you would follow into a fire if they asked you to and others you would have handed a container of parafin to and opened the door for them if the same request had been made. You cannot get people to put themselves out for your career by bullying. There are ways to manage people and constantly telling them they are crap is not one of them. It's easy for Raab to point fingers at others to deflect from himself. I doubt any of the people who complained will make a statement to the media to defend their side of a story. All you have to do is look at the accusations against numerous Tory Ministers. There are quite a few for bullying tactics. They can't all be lying.
I'm sorry that my point of view doesn't fall in line with your obvious vast experience in this field....I shall give myself a good talking to and remind myself not to do it again.
That's an easy out Plym playing the picked upon which is not actually what I was stressing or asking. What was your line of work then if that's easier? I believe you were not an office worker or a civil servant either. Am I right? I worked in Offices for 45 years. I was Manager myself for quite a few years and know what it was like to work for a bully type person twice. You cannot get the best out of people by shouting at them. There is nothing wrong with making sure people know you are the leader but they will not follow you out of fear. What they will do to a large extent is not do any more than they have to to ensure they cannot be got at. However, lead by example and encourage and you would be surprised how much more people will give both in effort and even ideas. Newspapers have a tendency to quote the people who are talking to them. When that person is the only one making the acusations if things don't go right then of course people believe what they read. Civil Servants do not often talk to the press so they are an easy target for Ministers to blame and to get away with poor treatment. If you complain then often your life is made very difficult and regardless of what the public is told it will affect your career prospects. Lately, and it is only recent, Civil Servants have started to dig back at their masters. Shock horror, how many Ministers are being accused of improper conduct towards others. Raab, Patel, I suspect Braberman also does some of these things and lets not mention Boris who would publicly blame anyone to get his neck off the chopping block. Some Ministers have even been accused by their own colleagues. I do have some experience of this subject but I will just repeat that they can't all be lying. And in future don't be so precious and read what I'm saying not what you think is intended.
BBC National News...1pm. Pictures of felled trees in the city centre and the felling of the Tory council to the Labour party. Some of those asked said the tree saga was the last straw (should that be the last tree ?).... and also said the run down city was a disaster.
Well, as previously discussed, there's been a lot more going on in Plymouth and it's Conservative council contingent than that. How many people voted for someone else or didn't vote at all because of the internal chicanery we'll never know but it certainly has been a disgrace. In my ward, the Labour candidate got 1,600 votes, the official Conservative 1,200 and the ousted previous leader of the council standing as an independent, 450, So the gangsterism led by Richard Bingley, once of both UKIP and the Labour Party if you can believe it, certainly cost the Conservatives one ward. Bingley by the way resigned after cutting down the trees and didn't stand for re-election as far as I can see. He's probably applying for membership of a few more parties to see if they'll take him in so he can once again claim councillor's expenses. I mean once again serve the community, sorry, mistyped that obviously.
Hadn't you heard ....he was arrested down on the Hoe with a bottle of whisky....laying on the grass and singing....."I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.....I sleep all night and work all day etc etc.
I really don’t understand what happened yesterday. How on earth did Medway fall to Labour? As Philomena Cunk said in one of her excellent documentaries “the passing of the British Nationality Act in 1948, granting citizenship to Commonwealth inhabitants, signalled an end to racism across the UK, except in Kent”. It’s Brexit City down there. How have they voted Labour?
