Suprised how far the car carried on skidding. Would have thought it was going to stop well before he touched the barriers.

Must be really dusty out there.

After 2 years out it will be funny to see how people react to his (Raikkonen) ability in a crap car (2012)- compared to Michael Schumacher's return in a crap car (2010).

    Missed out Raikkonen my bad.

People will probably be more interested in how he fares against whoever he's partnered with.

A underachieving Barrichello, or Maldonado a rookie.
Impressed with MSC fastest time of all drivers in Sector 2.

Who knows? It could be Sutil, Rubens, Maldonado or Jules Bianchi. Hell, Renault might even pass off one of their many drivers as part of the engine deal.

The only place where he impressed me was Spa Q3. Since then, I have seen many errors, hints of fustration in the Renault team and generally poor driving (Petrov has also been poor). If Senna had done enough to keep his seat, I don't think Grosjean would be replacing Senna for two practice sessions. I see Grosjean's chance as a test to see whether he's good enough - just like Senna got his test on the Friday of the Hungarian GP weekend.

I know it can't be easy coming in mid-season, but I've seen more potential from Grosjean in 2009 than I have from Senna this year.

How so? Grosjean showed nothing. He was bad enough to make me long for Piquet Jr. Atleast Senna has shown raw pace on a few occassions.

Also please stop refering to him as "Senna B"

Grosjean is replacing Petrov at Interlagos for FP1 not Senna. To be honest if I had to drop either Petrov or Senna I would drop Petrov. Petrov has been quickly matched in both quali and race performance by Senna who has come in midseason and according to Renault already incorporated himself into the team much better than Petrov has. The only question is is if Renault can afford to drop Petrov with the money he brings into the team.

Looks like Hammys back on top form lads, bring it on.

Seb looked a tad pissed at going off.

There wasn't much Grosjean could show when he had a top teammate and one of the slowest cars on the grid - but he still managed to get close to Alonso on a few occasions. Senna " " on the other hand, had a much better car to drive than Grosjean, and also has a much weaker teammate.

My mistake - but my point stands about Grosjean being tested. I'd also replace Petrov but Renault wouldn't do that, unfortunately.

I still have doubts about Petrov. I think NH flattered him and now he's got a mid season replacent (the like who have struggled since the testing ban)

As for senna here is a list of mid season replacements since 09

Alguersuari - Pretty rubbish 09. improves massively when given two full seasons
    Badoer- Yeah...
    Grosjean- Slow and accident prone
Liuzzi- Remarkable first race at monza, slipped back after
Kobayashi- Very good. Top marks, but in raw pace clearly slower than Trulli and the 09 Toyota was no slouch.
Fisichella- Just a team swap and he struggled badly
Heidfeld- Unremarkable, but not terrible. Beats Kobayshi once in the final race. More experience than others on this list and has been Pirelli tester.
    Yamamoto- Slow, Lapped by Senna
Klien- Looked solid, but i think the "blowing Senna away" was circumstantial and Abu Dhabi was a truer picture
Chandhok- Very Slow, Very accident prone in his one race. Not a shock he was looked over for India
Ricciardo- average at first but is improving to show real potential. Poor in India.
Senna- Great at Spa, Singapore and Monza, Struggles elsewhere.

Of that list id place Senna very near if not on top. Ricciardo and Kobayshi have perhaps done better, but there is question over Ricciardo teammate and he was beaten by NK in the last race, where as Kobayshi we only had two races to look at him, Senna looks as good as KK if we only count the first two races. Then he had a pre season at Sauber.

Based on that id like to see him get a chance whith proper testing under his belt. It would appear however that Renault look set to be impatient again.

Vettel has crashed four times in practice this season and has gone on to win the race only once.
