The problem with McClaren these days is he attracts redicule and thus a lack of respect. He looked to have got his managerial career back on track in Holland but has totally bombed in his last 2 jobs. He would be a massive gamble for us.
I dont know what to make of him. Hes highly thought of in the game but a bit of a laughing stock in the press. It could be a master stroke or a disaster but thats the same with most of the names mentioned?
The day we start worrying about what others think of us, especially the press...christ, it would be odd to be noticed by the fookers for a change...
He's obviously a good manager. Everyone fails at England, Forest are a joke and I reckon Wolfsburg is a tricky job to say the least. He did a good job for a long time at Middlesbrough. He left, Southgate took over, and they sunk. He also did an excellent job at Twente. As always, what he will need (and deserves, if this is true) is time and patience from the fans. No knee-jerking, no boo boy rubbish, give him a chance. Especially the Pearson haters - you got your wish, now live with it. I don't expect this though, as these people are career complainers.
I know this is one of those 'my sister's brother's pet rat heard stories', but I'll tell you all the same. Also I know some people on here may know people who work at training ground and may corroborate what ive heard. My dad was at Bookers in Hull (A wholesalers for those who don't know). Hes a regular there because of work and he was speaking to one of the fella's who works on the shop floor (who he knows is a city fan), he told my dad that someone he knows from the training ground had been in buying some food and drink stuffs. The guy from bookers asked the guy from the training ground what was going on at city (as they know each other) and did he know anything? He said funnily enough he was there picking up some extra stuff for lunch for a meeting/ but it was being kept secret who was coming/what the meeting was. So by the sounds of it, they're interviewing someone/a few people either today or tomorrow, maybe Mclaren included.
Haha I know, sorry I don't have a name. I just thought people would be interested that there's movement and an actual meeting/interview in place for today/tomorrow by the sounds of it.
Lol could be a meeting with anyone i suspect they go on often.Theyd prob interview at a secret location anyway...after landing their helicopter at hymers!
Wasn't the original rumour Joyce as manager with Schteeve as Director of Football? What's happened to Joyce's odds as Schteeve's have shortened? If they've stayed the same could it be a case of all rumours coming together: Manager - Joyce A.Manager - Barmby DoF - Schteeve with a brief to develop the youth setup based on his work at Man U DoFO - AP off to effsee freeing up some salary for Schteeve.
Joyce 5/6 McClaren 6/4 That's either a world of rumour money or people 'in the know'. It's a huge shift since this morning. All I have to say is that I will judge any Hull City manager on his ability to do just that, manage Hull City. COYH
I think Steve McLaren is a good coach. You cannot get a better recommendation than one from Sir Alex Ferguson!! HOWEVER, he has little experience of the Championship, he comes with a lot of baggage, and he's as mad as a bag of frogs ("Yesh Schteeve"!!) I hope, if he becomes manager that he succeeds and I will back him 100% because of what he has achieved. However, right now I cannot say he would be my first or even second choice. Prove me wrong Schteeve!!
If this move went ahead would it be the first time ever that a club has sacked an ex-England manager, poached another team's manager and then have that manager be replaced by another ex-England manager?
Would prefer McLaren 1 and Joyce 2...but i wouldnt swap my role with Man utd for that if i was Joyce.
My source is a bit more direct. Three candidates , one of which had been spoken to earlier in the week. Apparently the main candidate had seen us play quite a bit recently so if McLaren has been to some of our games that could ring true. I immediately thought of Dowie and shat myself , as did the player who gave me this info when I mentioned the D word. For what it's worth Barmby would be a popular choice in the dressing room. He has the full respect of all the players including the senior / international players .
Maybe, but i think the bigger coincidence would be that Leicester and ourselves could be replacing our managers with men who have already managed us (if we get WJ).
Cheers for that link Strov, I'd forgotten how much I dont get the piss taking about his accent there. Hes talking slowly and deliberately so the lass can understand him, hes showing respect for someone who's interviewing him in her 2nd language, and knows he cant talk hers. Im presuming the wits who take the piss have never actually been abroad, and if they have, or if they do, they'd expect everyone else to speak english to them.
