Good Morning. It's Tuesday 2nd May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Gracia's 70 day tenure coming to an abrupt end

Javi Gracia's 70 day tenure as Interim Manager could abruptly end today, after strong rumours of Sam Allardyce replacing him have surfaced. Back in February, just after Marsch was sacked, 'Big Sam' got in touch with Leeds to offer his services, but the club rejected his advances. Three months down the line, it is believed (according to Messrs Romano and Hay) that Victor Orta has gone cap-in-hand to the 68yo to plead with him to take the Elland Road hot seat

With four points from a possible twenty-one (and twenty-three conceded) last month, Gracia's position as head coach has become untenable. Currently, only goal difference separates Leeds from the drop zone, and with three of their four remaining fixtures consisting of top six opposition, (including a trip to the Etihad at the weekend), nothing less than a miracle is needed to ensure their top flight status.

Is Allardyce the answer to Leeds prayers? Could he help Leeds win promotion back to the top flight, should Leeds go down or are his methods outdated, and should be be confined to the past?

Meslier should not play again this season

Former England keeper Ben Foster believes that Illan Meslier should not play again this season. The 40yo former England shot stopper, who recently came out of retirement to help Wrexham regain their league status (with a record breaking 111 points), believes that Meslier's confidence is rock bottom, and as such, should throw Robles into the front line.

The young Frenchman has only kept five clean sheets all season (14.7% of all games). From 158 shots on target, he has saved 92 of them (59.5%), as apposed the 142 saves he made last season from 220 shots on target, though that was over 38 games, not 34. All keepers make mistakes, but defences normally tend to come to their rescue, but unfortunately not in Leeds' case. Speaking on his youtube channel, Foster was quoted as saying:-

“Listen, Illan Meslier is a good goalie. He’s proven that over the last couple of years. But this just goes to show that when a goalkeeper’s confidence is rock bottom – and I mean rock bottom, shot to pieces – it doesn’t matter how good a goalie you are,” “They’ve got Joel Robles sitting on the bench. He’s a decent goalie."

"But it doesn’t matter how good a goalie he is, he’ll do a better job than what Meslier will do at the minute because his confidence’s shot to pieces." “He doesn’t need to play anymore football this season. Just go and train, get behind the goalie that’s going to play and then in the summer, try and forget about it."

Should have dropped Meslier weeks ago he is not that good. We should sell him no matter where we finish. There are far better goalies out there whos all round game beats his limited ability.

Big Sam, desperate Dan, have you seen the muffin man does it really matter who takes the helm now with so short a time to try and halt the slump, let's be realistic here with the Muppets at the top absolutely clueless as to what to do I think it's just another cobbled together headless chicken reaction to a situation of their own making.... let's see if he at least restores some semblance of pride and dignity to the sorry bunch we have seen recently and at the very least if the enevitable happens at least go down with some blood, sweat and fight....I don't believe in miracles :emoticon-0159-music but I do believe in the fans deserve some heart at the very least...Sam,Sam the miracle man? <yikes>

Anyone thinking the same as me that rads has waited too long to react. I would have sacked the coach after the Palace game. We have thrown away the chance for 6 points due to his useless team selections. We had rasmus and Ayling both playing on the right side last game. Firpo was on the bench with rodrigo given not enough minutes.

Writing has been on the wall ever since it turned out Orta had wasted 2 years scouting Jesse Marsch because he was the best coach to inherit Bielsa’s squad. What a joke the man had nothing in common with Bielsa and his style of play and indeed the players. Orta then gave Marsch £100m to spaff on a bunch of players who have little skill or heart. Only Wober and Adams stand out. Orta also hesitated in pulling the trigger on Marsch and when he did we had to employ our 5th choice as coach and look where we are now. Add to that the Big Kev fiasco and the end was nigh

Sad thing is the sacking is way too late. The club will be five years recovering from the horrendous blunders he made with contracts and appointments. Better late than never

Should have gone over two years ago after failing to strengthen the squad. Just proves that rads still knows nothing about running a football club. Has the message been delivered from the 49ers to take action.
