“The narrow escape from relegation last season should have been the catalyst for a season of growth but this season has now turned into a humiliating disaster.” SAB add: “The appointment of Jesse Marsch, a style of play so different from that of Marcelo Bielsa, the sacking of Marcsh after the transfer window had closed, the hiring of a of a fifth-choice manager, … “ “… the purchase of a £35m striker who has played hardly any minutes in a relegation dogfight, the costly and embarrassing mistakes made in the Jean Kevin Augustin case… there have been far too many questionable decisions and people must be made accountable.” “The players must also take responsibility for their abject performances and lack of professional pride since half time against Crystal Palace.” SAB: “To pull on that famous white shirt is something that us fans can only dream of, yet it seems that some of the squad don’t have the fight for this battle.” “We are therefore asking for immediate changes to be made to the first team coach and to those responsible for the recruitment of the managers and players who have been brought in over the last 14 months.” “We would like to place on record our thanks and gratitude to the many staff, at both Thorp Arch and Elland Road, who worked tirelessly to make Leeds United a club that all of those who support it can be proud of.” “The Supporters Advisory Board are due to meet with the club this coming week and hope that they are able to respond to this statement before the meeting takes place.” ENDS
To be honest Doc, like your good self I am the most positive of supporters but, alas, I cannot argue with a word of that. We deserve to go down, we almost need to go down, we are pants. I can cope with that but Eire and Wakeys victory speeches will still take a bit of time for the humour to come through for me
Radz mistake was Orta. I still think we owe a great deal to Radz, he took a chance on us. Never mind JK, never mind £36m on an unproven kid never mind all the rest (Jesse, Gracia......) we would have had De Kettle instead of Gnonto if Orta had got his way. Man's an idiot
I think I mentioned it on here a couple of weeks back, although I want us to survive and remain in the PL surely we’ll be looking at more of the same. We have spent huge, we can’t and won’t sell another 10 players and bring 10 replacements in, we’ll not attract a decent coach The flip is we get relegated, then we’ll attract a good Championship coach, we’d be seen as a decent attraction. Cash in on Bamford, Meslier, Adams and a couple of others. Build a team around Drameh, Cresswell, Summerville, Perkins and Jospeh. I think we’d bounce straight back up with the right coach, my concern would be expecting Orta to get lucky again
It’s no victory speech. Believe you me. I likely love the club as much as you or Jammy etc. we’re not all born optimists and not all born pessimists either. In my day job I’ve been screwed many a time unfortunately by con men. I’ve had to develop a bit of a sixth sense for sniffing them out and it’s left me sceptical. Takes a while to build up a trust in someone’s abilities. I never did with orta but not something to gloat about. Believe it or not mate, I wish to god our trip to the pl had been a resounding success. Hopefully the next time
For the sake of your own sanity and happiness, and that of your family mate, I would try and separate the importance of being ripped off at work / in business with the success of Leeds United. I have no doubt that you love the club every bit as much as I do at all, but at the end of the day, it should be a fun thing in your life. I watched the Ipswich game with interest because it is local ish and a couple of connections and it brought back the ecstasy of beating Bristol Rovers and being on the pitch at ER for the only time in my life. Days like that bring as much joy as if we had won the last five and survived (and definitely more than if we grimly survive through others being worse than us). If we got a mega rich owner and won some trophies I guess I would enjoy it for a bit but, deep down, buying success would not make me happy. Moving down sarf when I was eight it would have been the easiest thing in the world to change to a London club because they occasionally won the FA Cup (take your pick of clubs) and most of my friends supported them but that wasn’t the fabric of what I chose to follow and vowed never to change. I am already looking forward to the new season in the Championship, a fresh start and, I have to say our new signing that came on (the lad Forshaw) looked like he could be decent
Was the biggest mistake by the club trying to reward the players who got us promoted? They showed loyalty to Roberts, Poveda, Bamford, Dallas, Cooper, Forshaw, Ayling and Shackelton. Just count the number of games played by this lot and even the young ones out on loan haven’t played hardly any football. These were all given new contracts when the reality looks like they should have been moved on and upgraded. Loyalty or gambling?
Would love to know what happened at half time in the Palace game. We were cruising and bossing the game and all the football was coming from us. Yes they got an undeserved equaliser right on half time but we came out for the second half like a team of strangers with no heart or desire. We looked like a team of Sunday leaguers who had a heavy Saturday night. We then get rolled over and thrashed. Its now become a joke as Leeds have only got 30 minutes in the tank against anyone and we are a laughing stock as well as getting a slamming in the media because of ignoring fans. How can we fall so low so quickly. What has Gracia done that moves the club from playing well organised football picking up points to everybodies joke team
Only a rumour Ayling was supposedly on his mobile phone at half time (Palace game), Roca was unhappy and said something to him and a big argument broke out
So what? Players have dressing room and training ground bust ups all the time at every club. Sheringham and Cole at scum reportedly hated each other and never spoke but it didn’t prevent them from being professional. Why would an argument between two players affect the whole team? They’re not 10 year olds ffs.
Was only answering Doc mate, I certainly wouldn’t care, although if true, I’d love to see a player try and use his mobile at HT when Bielsa was here
