At least Schteve knows what he's getting himself into, he's a regular at our games and sits in the directors box, so he knows old man Allam pretty well.
I suppose hull are stalling because in oddschecker the wally with the brolly is 2nd fav for their job
I've just replied to EST. My point is not about Hull caring about Pearson's happiness. I cannot for 1 second believe though, having an unhappy Pearson in the background, effectively sacked, would be anything other than a big distraction for your new manager, let say Steve McClaren? Of course it would and this is all my point is about really. As for the plan B bit, I wasn't denying it would be our plan "B", in answer to your point I was merely pointing out the plan "B" would probably be quickly achievable and wouldn't be a problem for Leicester or whichever manager chosen.
No organisation wants to employ and pay someone for doing nothing; I'd imagine we're no different. I'd imagine this will get resolved fairly quickly either by you paying what our board has demanded or it'll make some solicitors some easy cash. I can't really envisage Allam paying Pearson for doing nothing, that's not going to make him any money.
Oooooerrrr ... think of the fashion disaster ... "Amber and black will clash horrribly with that thining, freckled, ginger, pate" Gok Wan
I fully agree. You won't have any trouble getting someone in quickly, the only question is whether it will be the right person. Regarding Pearson on gardening duty I'm afraid you might have to bow to our greater experience of the matter. City have done it before with Phil Brown and he was fully isolated from both the club and the new manager, believe me if Pearson is dealt with the same way he might as well be invisible.
Brown was struggling for results on the pitch. Had one or 2 crazy moments managing that season and he went off the boil. Rather than sacking him the club, whilst trying to keep him happy and their options open, moved him away from things and brought Dowie in. He made the right noises about being disappointed, but in truth was probably happy his career wasn't dealt a big blow by getting sacked. Therefore, somebody else gets to carry the can, which Dowie did. Pearson's situations is totally different. Your owners would effectively be paying him to deny him a new job. Totally different and you can have the last £1 in my pocket he would be moaning and casting aspersions at every available moment, unlike Brown. Your local press would lap it up hence the obvious distractions for a new manager. Do you think Pearson, denied a £1m a year job, a 100% pay rise, would wonder off to the sunny West Indies for 6 months not saying boo to a goose, happily not saying anything to any members of the press? If I was your owners I wouldn't want Pearson around regardless of the bad taste involved here.
Are you referring to the play Waiting for Godot or is this some yoof slang that I am unaware of? I fear I am betraying my age by typing yoof.
I think you're overestimating Pearson's influence with the press and also the fact that he hates media attention at the best of times. Any noise he made would be irrelevant, but I agree we wouldn't want him on the payroll for doing nothing. However we don't know what the full situation is with his contract. Knowing Mr Allam he may decide not to pay that either and prefer to let Pearson fight for his compensation in court. The truth is none of us know what will happen.
Never a truer set of words, but doesn't it make it exciting waiting and debating possible outcomes. Looks like after all this you'll end up with Schteve. If true, you could end up in a better place than if Pearson had been there?
You need a bit of controversy to make the international break bearable. I used to watch McClaren playing for us in the 80s, he has a strong affinity with the club and I think he could be ok, but that rumour hasn't been substantiated in any way yet.
If you do have someone else coming in then you've pulled a masterstroke. You will have stopped us getting 6th place (above your 7th place) by disrupting our season even though MON was coming in all along. Even if you carry on and get Pearson you've still stopped a major rival for 6th spot. You foxes are so sly! I take my hat off to you. I was really gutted when Pearson news broke. I'm over it now.
Messing Pearson around 'because you can' would damage your club's reputation. Some talented managers may think twice before applying for the vacancy if they thought they could end up being treated like that. Likewise, it would seriously damage our reputation if we were deliberately holding out for a better offer.
