Strtikes me that if Citys model was a Brentfordesque one... then the hierarchy are making a complete horlicks of it... or am I wrong...?
I always wondered what was the reason he left, when I was living at home I would go to most Ủ23 games, and also chatted with him at City games in the lounge. I always found him a very likeable guy and willing to chat about how the u23 etc were doing. Pity really as he was doing a good job.
So what should happen (and I assume does) is that Rosie will come and watch U23s training occasionally and liase with Sellars or Naylor on a weekly basis for updates, as often recovering players feature for the U23s and he will want to know how things are going. Sellars doesn't scout the players, I believe Richard Naylor sorts out the recruitment for the U23s side, I don't think Sellars has any say or anything to do with transfers for them unless they're playing for the opposition and he literally sees them. Rosenior will be the one to promote youth players based on their progression and ability, but he'll do so based on staff recommendations. Jarvis' face doesn't fit, hence why he's not been given an opportunity (that's not down to Rosenior). Some players are being supported and help being given to find them new clubs, Chadwick did get some, but a lot of others aren't.
I hope, really do hope ST that the club DO actually read here sometimes as some of the things you have revealed might not be known. It happens all too often in Management... This cannot be the way that the owners want the club to be run surely... ?
Did you hear the murmur of Chadwick being refused to have his insurance paid for after his injury resulting in moves to higher levels not being able to go through?
Absolutely, our academy is filled with former players with bags of experience; Naylor had over 400 career appearances in the Premier League and EFL, Jock Anderson (U18s manager) played for Morton, Livingston, Bristol Rovers and of course City, Neil Sullivan (academy goalkeeping coach) played over 500 professional games and had 28 caps for Scotland, Billy Clark (U18s Assistant manager) played over 450 professional games and David Meyler who played close to 200 games in his career, most of them for City. There is a good mixture of non-players and former players, it's just Sellars that seems to be a bit of a sticking point with the lads. The other staff members are spoken about very highly.
I think they're aware of it, but it would only be fair to give him a chance to pull it round and change his mentality. He's obviously doing something right to keep his job, but I suppose at the end of the day players do have the power. I know the HDM read on here and there was a time in the past when Bielby used to have a look, but I have no idea now.
This is brilliant from the club, Frank was a wonderful servant to the younger players over a long period of time. Players like Ryan Fallowfield fondly remember him.
And every one of them wearing a tie. Ok, some of them look like they're on their way to court but even so, nice touch.
I was hopeful Nick Barmby may be brought in to help the development of our youngsters, I thought I'd seen somewhere that when Acun took over Barmby was being welcomed back to the fold, or am I imagining it ?
Sounds very much to me that ST has an axe to grind and because he posts his versions of events on here it doesnt mean to say they are true.
