Morning mate If you’re talking about me, I do favour the Royals. Most geordies do. We fought for King George and I also swore my allegiance to Her Majesty QE.
Kind of….it gets seriously weird though when you elevate a family above your own for a life of luxury and celebrate it like it’s a good thing
Well I do confess to loving the line "God for Harry, England and Saint George..." in Henry V ... does that make me guilty?
They definitely should start showing a picture of a bloke with his feet amputated on the back of every chocolate bar.
I always get a kick out of being approached by the mercenaries from Shelter in town on a Saturday asking whether I want to set up a monthly Direct Debit to help the homeless. I just tell them I already have two set up - one is called National Insurance and the other PAYE.
That doesn't happen, neither. I dont go around championing the Royal family to folk. Same as I don't go around judging people who are against them. I simply believe there's still a place for them, although, I'm not against it being modernised and watered down, which I believe King Charles is also mindful of.
My brother is an anti-royalist and was moaning about the reported £250m that the coronation is costing. I asked him whether he objected to the billions that having royals bring, in terms of tourism and he couldn’t answer! I do agree that the number of royals could be trimmed down a bit, I’m not sure that someone who is 100th in line to the throne needs to have royal protection, but you’re correct in saying Charles has indirectly mentioned this before.
I reckon Charlie will do this for a few years, possibly a decade, and then pass it on to William. At that point people will be thinking what the **** are we still holding this lot in such high esteem for, and they'll be seriously diluted. Still there, but more of a part time tourist entity. I certainly won't be pledging anything to Charles. Although can see why next weekend is happening and is such an event, if only as it is some more reflection to his predecessor, who is a genuine legend of our times. Plus, we get next Monday off.
yeah the only plus point for us is a fking day off in fairness and I’m gonna enjoy it without some **** prancing around like its 1066AD enough of this fking nonsense init…..time to grow up methinks these fkrs should be given a house in Streatham for their lesson in real life in Britain
He that outlives this day shall be my brother, be he nare so base a scoundrel or a complete Welsh fanny ...
