Very glad I didn't watch that. That's the sort of finish that would have me seething all week. The anger at Lucas is misplaced imo. Its correct focus is at the club: for continuosly making poor purchases and then hanging on to them for far too long hoping on some miracle that they'll actually come good. We have at least 10 senior players in this category and they all need to leave this summer or we will continue going round in circles.
Two things don't correlate at all. A lad looking to make his mark in the PL may take time to adjust, but you can bet he'll be working his socks off. He gets shunted out to France and it's no surprise his motivation dips.
120 goals in Spurs’ PL games this season - the most, overtaking Arsenal’s 116 today. It’s entertaining if nothing else. Even if the defending is X rated
Standard Spurs sadly, individual errors and refereeing bias / incompetence undoing some good work by the forward players. Tierney bottling a red card for Jota (who scored the winning goal) and bottling a penalty for a foul on Richarlison had a massive influence on the result. I actually can`t remember a game against Varpool where the official`s decision making has not had a majorly negative impact on Spurs one way or another, last year it was Fabinho`s elbow on Son going unpunished etc etc. What was Lucas even doing on the pitch, a pointless sub, he has been useless all season and cost us a point today. Levy out.
He was getting regular starts at a team both playing and chasing European football - but in the last few games has lost his place back to the guy he was supposedly an upgrade on, not least because he wasn't working his socks off when Rennes didn't have the ball And let's be honest, when we signed him there was plenty of comment from Forest and Boro fans of him being a passenger when we didn't have the ball
Last time I saw somebody with their foot that high but that apparently wasn't an issue, Leni Riefenstahl was filming it please log in to view this image
It’s not misplaced as it isn’t mutually exclusive. He’s a useless prick who I can’t stand and I’m pissed with the club that we’ve allowed him to linger like a bad smell, just like many others. I honestly cannot wait to see the back of him. His last 8 minutes has been a red card and an assist for an opposition winner. Why Mason brings him on I’ll never know, especially when we’ve got Mundle performing brilliantly for the U21s. I’d have hoped with Mason being an academy product he’d understand what fans would prefer, evidently not.
Remember that debate the other day about some teams not getting favoured? Now we've played Man Utd and Liverpool, does anyone still feel that way?
I think that’s a misreading of it. The injured guy he replaced is also the club captain, was always going to be going back to a squad player option after the captain got fit.
Nottingham Forest should be pissed off, TBH They wear red shirts and don't get the same courtesy that other red-shirted teams get from PL refs...
Good grief, earlier we had a Van der Post comment, and now Riefenstahl. This is way too highbrow for a football board.
To add to this, what benefit would we honestly get from keeping him but loaning Gil and spence? Lucas was always leaving so absolutely nothing to learn from playing him whereas at least we’d know whether spence is good or bad or whether Gil does have what it takes to cut it in the prem. Instead we’ll have both of them back next year, probably in the same situation and we’ll keep loaning them out till their contract runs out.
