Selles made use of all 5 subs, but we went backwards. That says more about the quality of the subs then anything. You have to trust your subs to at least keep the ship steady. May as well have made no subs and played players until their hamstrings went.

I get it. I was just meaning that the previous point whoever it was made didn’t mean positive or negative were the only two options.

But yeah, pretty ****e subs, and I do utterly hate when we get a lead then try and sit on it. We can’t do that.

I have so little faith in their decision making, that I do worry that they might actually give him a chance next season.

I'm really not fussed about losing any of our players in the summer.

Zero touches in the opposition box this half. Wow.

Today the following have been pretty decent -

    Alex
    Lavia
    ABK
    Beddy

Probably none of which will be here next season.

Charly, Sulemana and Stu did well first half too.

That's disgusting. There's no way to defend that. I'm sure Selles will try, though.

I think the most depressing thing is at no point did the team/manager show that they were truly fighting to stay up. Every match is so low energy and apathetic. Any game where we showed any sort of determination (VS Chelsea, Vs Arsenal, Vs United etc) we absolutely bottle it the following game when we played our relegation opponents. I said at the start that Selles was a bad appointment and we'd turn on him. He was a fantastic assistant, but he was absolutely not ready for first team management. Shame really because if he remained as caretaker until the end of the season he could of stepped back into the assistant/backroom role, but he/the board risked it all and will likely get let go at the end of the season and lose his entire employment at the club.

It shouldn't be possible for a gulf to exist that large between two teams in the same division. Embarrassing. Just stick two runners on their CBs and go long. Better than literally sitting in your half inviting them to come at you wave after wave.

    Is that literally true?

I mean if it is, has that ever happened in a PL game before?

'We put in a solid performance in the second half and really pushed Newcastle all the way, its just a shame the fans didn't get behind us'.

Yeah, I mean we at the least needed to be trying to play the same way in the second half as we did in the first. The delay in bringing Che on was a madness, and when Howe switched Isak over to the left wing, and brought Wilson on, we didn't have any response at all. That's a good coach and...err...not a good coach at play.

15 points behind a Bournemouth team which were 3 points ahead of us a month or so ago.

    Cheers Selles, thanks SR.

I can't wait to see the back of 99% of this team/management/board

Yup, at that point at least. At the end KWP drifted in, so we probably had one or two by the end.

I'd hope we could get one season out of Charly, Sulemana and maybe ABK in the Championship. Part of me does wish we could sell most of the 25 and have a completely fresh start!

Oh well. Honestly thought we'd get battered 7 or 8 nil. So I'll take it. Just painful when you know there's a capable set of players being held back by half a dozen incompetent ones who the manager is blind to.

Defended Selles after Arsenal, but I take back everything I said. Guy's mental.

Mate, we'd need a tall target man to do that. We really should have signed one in Jan.....
