Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a wonderful feeling, after picking up 3 more points in the rain.....

Game #45 (#44 for our visitors) suddenly seems far less daunting and stress filled following an excellent result, and very gritty performance up in the lake district of Rotherham. The team certainly had to dive deep to find the energy reserves and oxygen levels needed to fish out that massive win.
However, we shouldn't underestimate our visitors to the CCS on Sunday, Huddersfield Town, managed by our former charismatic gaffer and all round escape artist Neil Warnock. We know full well that with the Terriers firmly still in the relegation mix, he'll have his "fantastic group of lads" fighting tooth and nail to pick up the points needed for survival... although we all know he loves us, sentiment will be the last thing on his mind come kick off of the live Sky high noon showdown.

The Yorkshiremen come to us in decent form over the last 6 games (marginally better than our own form), however, after 3 straight wins, the Terriers are now without a win in 3, but still with just 1 defeat. Frustratingly for them though, despite this good form, other around them (including ourselves) have also picked up good results in recent weeks meaning they have been unable to pull away from the pack.
It must be said though that the team looked doomed in 23rd place and 4 points from safety before the veteran manager took over... with them now sitting in 21st, 1 point above the drop zone and with a game in hand, I'm pretty sure most Terriers fans would have taken that scenario at this stage.

Earlier this season the Bluebirds tumbled to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield up at the John Smiths Stadium, thanks to a Jordan Rhodes goal in the 8th minute, and a subsequent penalty "miss" by Callum Robinson (oh how history has a habit of repeating itself).

    Robbo.jpg
Robbo shapes up to nicely pop the ball within easy reach of the opposition keeper... little did he know he'd become a bit of a trend setter for the City this season.

The corresponding game last season saw the Bluebirds run out 2-1 winners at the CCS with 2 goals from big Kieffer Moore in the 74th and 93rd minutes, marking a come back after falling behind in the 12th minute.
That game saw the City pick up their first win in 11 games and remarkably also condemned Huddersfield to yet another defeat against the Bluebirds. The City had actually gone 16 games unbeaten against the Terriers with the win, a run stretching back to January 2003!
Having seen 2 defeats on the bounce since that win though, it is high time we got back to "normal service" this weekend.

    Early Bluebirds Team News
With Ryan Allsop now confirmed as being out for the remainder of the season Jak Alnwick is set to keep his place in the starting 11.
All eyes will be on Callum O'Dowda's fitness with the winger/wing-back having to be replaced at half time v the Millers. Whilst Jack Simpson had a decent outing in his place during the 2nd half of the game up at the Rotherham Municipal Pool I'm sure I speak for many when I say that O'Dowda just gives us all a little more confidence and tends to offer more overall?
We could well see the midfield being rotated again after such an arduous shift last night but the big man/big man pairing of Kaba & Etete is likely to be retained as the pair are starting to show signs of some decent understanding and link ups as we enter the final few games.

    Prutton & Co Predict
Even now, despite our decent run, the Sky duo just don't want to show any faith.... they've predicted a 1-2 defeat...

    The bookies would beg to differ again though, and they seem far more intelligent and switched on;
Home Win 11/8 Draw 11/5 Away Win 21/10

    Fun Fact
Top punk band the Sex Pistols played their last two British shows at Ivanhoe’s nightclub in Huddersfield, on Christmas Day 1977. This included a matinee for the children of striking firefighters. They then embarked on the fateful tour of the US that led to the bands break-up. The facade of Ivanhoes, the former Grand Picture Theatre, is still standing at the very end of Manchester Road behind Lidl.

Sticking with the musical theme, Aussie rockers AC/DC filmed 'You Shook Me All Night Long' in Milnsbridge, Paddock and Outlane in 1986, including the famous scene featuring frontman Brian Johnson having a scrub in the bath.

    Sharing The Love
Having covered some very decent names in the away thread (including the illustrious Brian Clark) this list isnt quite of the same standard, though it does contain another legendary Bluebirds striker, albeit one that attracted one of the cringiest, yet brilliant chants I think I've heard (who needs Cantona......)
I have to say, I was also amazed to see that Jazz Richards actually managed to clock up as many appearances with us as he did!

So, can our dogs of war overcome the Terriers snapping at our heels and secure the point that gives us guaranteed security and avoiding Smoochie being in the dog house? Will we toss off the threat from Colin and his crew to secure the vital point needed?? Can our Jak in the box do enough to prevent a scare???

All I know is we need to avoid being a guest on Alexander Armstrong & Richard Osman's show and ending up "Pointless" on Sunday.....

Oh and Clingo is back, so in his honour...

    Update on team news.....

O'Dowda is ruled out of both remaining games due to concussion protocols.

Shame, he's been one of the brighter parts of this season.

    Great thread as always Brizzle.

That's a shame about O'Dowda as he has been a touch of class for us. Someone to build around for next season in the Championship.

Hopefully, today's results will make the Terriers game purely academic.

With Collins hopefully available next season, thats the left hand side sorted.
Adams hopefully fit to provide some creativity in the centre and Etete realising where the goal is, there's the start of a side.
The 3 key loanees will need replacing.

There needs a major clear out and SL given a free rein to bring in who he wants - so it needs the embargo lifted/Sala saga ended.

Need a new gk, defender to replace Kipre, central & wide midfielders & striker.

A few can go on loan or sold like Ojo, Davies, Rinomota, Denham, Simpson, Watters, Sawyers, Anwick.

    Or given away, Watters.

Harris to go, sold for preference.

No money for Harris I'm afraid - he's out of contact at the end of this season.

Well now that we are mathematically safe, I hope we're not going to set out to do Colin any favours in our last home game of the season. Given our home record, our long suffering, paying supporters deserve at least an all out attempt at winning.
I'm sure my fears are unfounded.

Robbie you are on the wrong thread. Taking a leaf out of Masky's book?

I looked in on an article in one of the Yorkshire rags a couple of weeks back after Colin had got some very good results to put Hudders above us in the table. We'd just been beaten 4-1 by their neighbours Sheffield Utd and the talk was about Colin doing his old club a favour come our game.

The concensus of comments was why should he, and to stuff the Taffs anyway. I commented that there was plenty of time for things to change and it could even be the other way around come our clash. I was treated to the usual "YAKKY DA" jibes and "League One for you lot" comments.

Since then our Watford, Stoke and Rotherham results, 7 points from 9.

    Karma - how things change.

    Unexpected changes there.

    Ng and Kaba benched.

Back 4 or Ralls at lwb.

Lamouchi does like to tinker doesn't he. Used to do the same at Forest.
