Decent point and another playoff hopeful frustrated by a resilient City performance. Get some forwards back/in and next season is looking exciting. Now off to the Artic Monkeys with my daughter. Decent start to my birthday long weekend.
Swansea didn't look like a side desperate to win, and to be fair neither did we. Harmless enough to watch, I thought their playing out from the back was a bit better than ours, a bit quicker, more direct and forward facing, not that it did them much good. Roll on next season.
What I really like about him is he doesn't play with that fear that most of our players do. When we get it in a promising wide area the man on the ball often seems to overthink it and end up doing nothing before the defence gets themselves organised and he's crowded out. Allahyar did it with that break in the second half. But Vaughan just gets his head up, makes a decision and commits to it and it's so much more effective as a result. That goal wouldn't have happened today if it was one of our other wingers. He has the odd sloppy touch or pass which he needs to iron out, but I hope he never loses that fearlessness.
Hull head coach Liam Rosenior: "I thought it was an outstanding performance from both teams - both teams look really, really good teams at this level. "I think both myself and Russell will be disappointed the season isn't continuing because both teams are showing a level of football and a level of identity that is different. "They are a really good team and we more than matched them. I was so proud of the group and there were a lot of real positives. "Again it's a performance that we can build on for next season." Swansea head coach Russell Martin: "There are some really disappointed people in the changing room which surprised me, but I like the mentality that they really were desperate to force their way in and still had the hope even after the Millwall game last night. "I think it shows how far they have come as a group mentality-wise. "I thought we were really good today, we were just lacking that final bit. Hull had one shot on target. We paid for a lack of energy at the start of the game. "Second half I think we were outstanding but we couldn't quite break down a team with a lot of bodies defending. I much preferred the energy in the second half, but we didn't have enough of those moments in the final third when it really mattered ."
Congratulations to former Tiger Callum Burton, who was promoted with Plymouth Argyle today. Might come up against him next season.
You'd need an encyclopaedic knowledge of City players to remember that one ST, but congratulations all the same! Once a tiger and all that (unless they leave on a sour note)
He only ever played for the reserves, but he did get onto the bench in the PL when McGregor got injured (a home game against Norwich, seem to remember us winning). Always looked promising but struggled with injury during his time here, never really made the most of the loan opportunities he had. I do have somewhat of a good memory of players having played at clubs, must be something about names I recognise. Always been able to do it.
Does it matter ? Is it disrespectful ? If so let me know , it’s just easier when I’m watching , no different to say Morgs or Robbo is it ? Unless you are looking for some woke racism slant ?
