Meanwhile, Bristol City, who are down in 14th position in the Championship standings, are looking to build on ending a three-game winless streak last time out. Bristol City possible starting lineup: O'Leary; Tanner, Vyner, Naismith, Pring; King, James; Weimann, Scott, Bell; Conway Burnley possible starting lineup: Muric; Roberts, Al Dakhil, Taylor, Maatsen; Brownhill, Cullen; Manuel, Gudmundsson, Zaroury; Rodriguez please log in to view this image We say: Bristol City 1-1 Burnley Despite being crowned champions in midweek, Burnley remain motivated to reach three figures. However, few teams have gotten the better of Bristol City at their home ground of late, leading us to predict a competitive draw being played out at Ashton Gate. https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footba...nley-prediction-team-news-lineups_512424.html please log in to view this image
I know I shouldn’t feel like this - it’s not competitive, but I feel a nice warm comfortable feeling knowing that we are safe in the Championship for another season. There was a time not long ago I was concerned we might drop. League 1 is a horrible league - I never want to be there again. So, whilst of course I want us to win as always, if we lose I won’t be that devastated. #onthebeach
this is a weird scenario ending to our season [ championship ] we sit on 56 points probably 10 points above [ 11 from safety ] destined for bottom half of the table!!! in other seasons 56 points would be less than a handful of points above 22nd! SO relatively we may have more points than last season so a plus an average team should average 60 points top 6 71 pts and relegation/ poor at least 46
The omens aren't good Just taking a brief look at the stats and facts, City will need to rewrite the recent history books if they want to pull off a result today. Bristol City have lost their last five league games against Burnley, conceding at least twice in every defeat (15 in total). Burnley suffered a 2-1 defeat to QPR last Saturday, only their second defeat in their last 32 Championship games played on Saturdays. They haven’t lost on consecutive Saturdays in the Championship since November 2012 under Sean Dyche. (Bristol Post)
So the City side... No major surprise in the team selection coming off the back of a win and it's good to see Kalas back in the squad. I wonder if Nige will bring on the defender for the final few moments given the uncertainty over his future beyond the summer. The biggest surprise is no Anis Mehmeti in the squad. That does show the strength in depth when everyone is fit but he surely won't be happy with that, unless he's picked up a knock. Burnley are going to keep the ball for fun so the pace of Sam Bell on the counter could prove important. (Bristol Post)
After playing a good first 30 minutes we show our weakness by playing around with the ball at the back and whoof we are down 0-1. There were many chances to hoof the ball away but we decide to do our usual thing and play the ball across the back, and there you are!
Half-time ratings Max O'Leary - 7 George Tanner - 6 Zak Vyner - 7 Kal Naismith - 7 Cam Pring - 7 Andy King - 6 Matty James - 6 Alex Scott - 6 Sam Bell - 6 Tommy Conway - 6 Harry Cornick - 6
Burnley started this match by looking anything but champions by looking very weak at the back combined with some shaky decisions made by the goalkeeper and in fact scarily resembled Bristol City. Once the squad got together they looked like the success they are and put us under a lot of pressure and eventually found the goal their superior play deserved. Having said that we still have a chance at a point but will have to improve the usual hesitancy and poor decision making by the back line because I don't think Burnley have yet reached top speed. I still see so many areas in which we must improve before we can look ourselves in the mirror and see the same class as our opponents out there today, and unless we can step up several levels for next season we can expect more of the same.
How piss poor was that and yet again our lousy defensive play puts Burnley back in front 2-1. For me Alex Scott is having a shockingly bad game and he has some answering to do for some very sloppy play around the penalty area.
Scott looks somewhat ticked of by being subbed after what for him was a poor game. Is it the last game for him in a Bristol City shirt?
Men v Boys first half, much better with our subs.. still lack in the final third imo not for the first time.. something that needs addressing if we are to progress next season..
