A short post this week as too depressed to get involved much. However the big talking points now are going to be about change: Lets assume the sale goes through and also assume we are now in the Championship next season Radz and Orta gone and the club need a squad capable of bouncing back. Plenty will be sold and some oldies who should have gone much earlier will be retained to form the spine of the new team. Klaessen Ayling Cresswell Monteiro Cooper Struijk Wober Firpo Dallas Forshaw Gyabi Gray Bate Perkins Georginio Gelhardt Joeseph Harrison Sinisterra A new RB and LB also a new top CB along with a top midfielder and striker. Everyone else gone. The biggest decision the 49ers will make is which head coach to pay a lot of money to, and will they be able to entice anyone at all. What was their relationship with Bielsa like because if it was good and he hasn’t taken the Uruguayan job yet? Maybe he would like to come with lots of cash to rebuild and take us forward. Right now I would even give Big Sam a go because the last 2 seasons have been shyte Has there ever been a season when the 3 promoted teams into the prem all survived and stayed in the prem? Well so far Bournemouth and Fulham are safe and Forest could still do it yet. This season has been a joke for Southampton, Leicester, Everton & Leeds who contrived to rescue the promoted clubs. Shocking
Also remains to be seen if the 49ers are the dream team. We can but hope they are if they complete a deal
No matter where we are next season a massive rebuild is required and it doesn't matter who the manager is, he'll need at least half a dozen quality additions, regardless.
I think a lot of folk are getting giddy about the takeover, nothing to suggest they'll spend big. Their first job is to recruit a top DOF, quickly followed by the best coach available. Then a rebuild of the squad.
Peter Lowey is still around and expect him to be a big part of what happens when/if the 49ers take over. He has invested millions in the 49ers fund and will be in charge of any redevelopment. Thee fund is just that a pot of money to buy the club and take on all the debts (paying off agreed transfer stages) then putting a transfer pot together which won’t be anywhere near Chelsea levels
I can't knock Radz for the investment level tbh, the problem being, it hasn't been spent wisely. We need to feck Orta off and get someone in that knows what they're doing
The most crucial appointment will make will be the dof. Get that right and there's a good chance everything will follow given the proper support. Get it wrong and, well we can see exactly what that'll be like
They are first and foremost though an investment bank, answerable to their investors. Not easy making money from a football club
I’ve reached the point of what will be will be I was never keen on Radrizanni and Orta thought they were both chancers In fairness to Radrizzani he did his best and under his stewardship we got back to the PL One of the main problems Radrizzani had/has is Orta Orta wrecked Boro and has virtually wrecked Leeds The only good thing to come out this pairing was Marcelo Bielsa and I am not convinced this was down to Orta Marcelo gave us some of the best football I have ever seen, shame he isn’t still here With regard to the 49ers I am not convinced if they are in it to make money then more turbulent times are ahead Just my opinion
5 minutes left for the 21s to scrape a draw and win the league but up against it. Victor Orta has turned up today to take the plaudits but maybe he should have stayed away ffs.
The Championship is far too physical for the above players. We particularly need several 6' 5 centre back bruts
If we went down, I’d not expect us to sign anyone. Between the U21s and first team, there are enough players to get the blend of experience and youth just right. Getting the right coach might be tricky though. Stay up and I don’t care who goes, Sinisterra is fast becoming another Forshaw so even he can leave
It’s simple fellas, Rads needs to arrange a meeting with Wilko at a service station, write on a napkin how much he will earn and let him get on with it Failing that, tell Bielsa we will put Orta in stocks on the pitch and let the great man throw wet sponges at him if he takes the job.
I couldn’t agree with this more. They spend (what) 15 million on Ivan Tony, we spend 35 million on Rutter, who’s done their job better?
Who's better as an attacking midfielder... Aaronson or Tyler Roberts ? Obviously it's a trick question as the answer is neither, but it does show we can easily cobble together a decent squad for the Championship. Robles...in goal (better than Kiko) Ayling, Cresswell, Wober, Firpo (very classy back four) Gyabi (just one holding) Summerville, Archie Gray, Gnonto (all on new contracts so going nowhere) Bamford, Rutter (both will be very good at Championship level) Subs. Cooper Struijk Drameh Bate Shaks Roberts Joffy Perkins Joseph Sell; Meslier Kristensen Koch Llorente Roca Adams McKennie (loan return) Forshaw (release) Sinistera Aaronson Harrison Rodrigo Hopefully those sales bring in around £200M so pay a few debts and then actually commit to increasing the capacity at ER. Any new owners need to get serious which means a 55K stadium to be able compete in the top half of the PL.
Lots of stories about who we are trying to buy, but FFS nothing is going to happen until we know where we will be next season. It means whatever happens we are last out of the blocks with purchases, last out of the blocks will player sales and player loan deals. This season has been yet again a monumental screw up
