Haven't seen this mentioned on here, so I thought I'd mention it.
Steam's forum and website got hacked and the hackers may have gained access to personal information and credit card details.

Whilst they've admitted it and not attempted to cover the whole thing up, like Sony did, it's still **** site management and poor security.
They've not sent out any emails telling their customers, either.

Even though I have it installed, I haven't bought anything off it so I think I'll be alright.

I'm concerned. I've bought some games from them and yesterday got a strange email with an order number from an Italian music site I've never heard of. I've checked my bank account online, but don't see any odd activity.

    It's squeaky bum time.

I'm going to assume that you're serious.
It's a site that you can order games from.
A lot of PC games automatically use it nowdays, even if you buy the disc itself from Amazon or HMV.

I hate it when people think networks can/should be 100% secure. That is impossible people. No system can be 100% secure unless it is completely offline and any measure you take to make it easier for users to access also makes it more vulnerable to attack.

    Once again,

TOTAL 100% SECURITY OF ANY NETWORK IS IMPOSSIBLE

That may be true Sam, but putting people's credit card details and account passwords on the same database as their forum is just stupid.

You would be shocked and amazed at the number of Insurance companies that keep all information in the one database and some do not even encrypt it (*cough* Quinn Insurance *cough*)
