I realise that, we don’t have that much though, I can’t see us going anywhere near that high, we walked away in Jan from a couple of deals where clubs were asking too much, we need to stay firm and walk away if they want too much.
last few games Aberdeen has "come alive!" so likely want to cash in on better performances so they can replace and and make a profit?
Understand that, but from our perspective we aren’t in a position to overspend on a player, we need to walk away if they ask too much.
there was a couple of occurrences a couple seasons ago when we so called had a passing interest in 2 or 3 players who we passed over due to cost or thought not "good enough" ! Bradshaw! "Ollie" Toney ????? ... a couple more less successful ... granted we could have splashed out on various players for that extra £m or two and failed [ and we did ] difficult to know really .. spend £2m and get a duff.... sell on at loss? .... £2m get a real deal sell on or get promo ... If we were willing to pay £2m for a player who we thought would get us "extra points" / help to top 6 and could maybe enhance him and sell on for £4 or £5m what changes if he costs £4 and we sell on for a small loss say £2m ?
That’s where recruitment teams earn their corn, it’s ultimately what sorts the successful clubs from the not so successful.
