There's a whisper that McClaren's been offered the job.

His odds have dropped to 5/1 and the bookies now have him second behind Joyce.

Nothing reliable yet, but I wouldn't be too surprised.

Said this before i would love him as a manager, as much as i would love Warren Joyce or OGS, there are so many decent managers out there, it just depends whether he would want to rip the team apart and start again.

I would be happier with McClaren, I think we need a steady experienced hand to manage these youngsters, and he is still well liked at old trafford.

Despite what happened at Forest (not entirely his fault) I wouldn't be disappointed with Mclaren as manager. He's experienced, would do no harm with the Man United link and he did well with the youth set up at Boro.

    My first choice all along.

People mock him and he's seen as a 'figure of fun' but when did City last appoint a manager who in the last 5 years had bossed England, led a club team to a major european final for the first time and led another team to their first domestic title ever in a major european league? And he's got the local links.

We will never again have an opportunity to entice a manager with that recent CV.

Even though I see how he could be good and he's an ex-player I struggle to be happy with this appointment because he ****ed me off so much as England boss. I was at Wembley for that miserable 'Wally with a Brolly' night and I came away from that thinking he was the worst manager going!

Plus the whole schpeaking dutsch thing marked him out as a proper big dog's cock

Is there actually anything in this bar rumour?

I know he was at numerous City games after leaving Wolfsburg but thats all i know about him and Hull recently.

I wouldn't mind McClaren but it wouldn't "blow my socks off". I'd rather have Joycey or Solskjaer, but I don't really know why. I know people will say they're both riskier than McClaren and that he's won titles and managed England, but there's just something dislikeable about McClaren. He's a bit of a wet.

Completely agree. I think McClaren would do a decent job but my heart wants OGS or Joyce to inspire the youngsters which McClaren wouldn't do as well

Can I clear one thing up in my mind from anyone in the know. Was it McClaren that bred all those youngsters at Boro and Southgate who sold them all or vice versa? I'm talking Downing, A.Johnson, Cattermole, Morrison etc. I know neither of them sold A.Johnson (or that could even have been Southgate) but I remember one bloke selling them all off. I'm hoping that was Southgate!

Could Barmby be player/assistant manager or would it mean him hanging up his boots? He's still very effective in his 20 odd minute cameos as he showed against Cardiff.

No reason why he couldn't do both, though I don't expect we'll see him on the pitch much after this season anyway.

Neither do I. I honestly dont see why we'd now appoint someone we sacked when we were two divisions lower in the league ladder. Would that be an unprecedented move in the history of football?
