For £25m quid it was. He was a bog standard target man and we didn't play to his strengths. Stupid signing. We didn't cross any balls into the box when he first came.
We gained survival in the PL basically down to the signing of Wood. We then sold him for £15m ish Very good business overall
I heard we signed partially to relegate burnley, but we would have survived without him and some other option. He didn't fit our sides style of play.
He scored important goals. Not single-handedly but he played a very big part in us staying up. We would not be in the position we are today if we hadn’t signed him. Yes we could have signed someone else, that someone else may be better in later but may have not scored goals and Wood then scores a few important goals for Burnley and it’s us relegated not them.
We stayed up with Chris Wood is a matter of fact. Saying we would've stayed up without him is an assertion.
4 goals in 35 PL games, 2 goals each season. The point is not that he didn't contribute, it's the fact we spent £25m on a player that was mostly crap. We could have done better for £25m than a 5 goals a season striker. He's not a bad player, but he didn't fit our style, we didn't ever play to a target man's strengths.
Survival was aim at that point, and the signing of Wood basically relegated Burnley and guaranteed our safety. Worth every freakin penny and more.
I hate Everton so much! Don't know why! Just hate them! Always have. Their fans are awful. The dregs of Liverpool! Liverpool F.C. have a lot of history to crow about but these ****ers, apart from Dixie ****ing Dean, virtually **** all. Let's help relegate these ****s!!
We have absolutely no chance tonight. Iv never been so sure about anything in my life. I will eat my hat if we win tonight.
Funnily enough I had weird dreams once about randomly eating clothing and worrying about it's impact on my insides and the pain it would cause. Would not suggest eating a hat.
