**** it, i see an absolute thrashing here, 7 nil town and promotion is secured. The league will be won Sunday week coz port vale will hold Plymouth......mark my words!!
I also think a 2-0 win and automatic promotion secured. Cue pitch invasion. The stats back up our success and dominance this season, top of a lot of metrics (just unfortunately not the table, which demonstrates how good a job Plymouth are doing ...)
What really stood out to me last night was Barnsley were excellent for half an hour. Tight, pressing, playing good football. Then they got bored, or frustrated, or got a bit slack and stopped doing their jobs. Then we started to find space and play our game. Our lads all do their jobs for 90 minutes. Every single week. That’s why we have so many clean sheets and goals. The only other team that’s kept it up for 90 minutes in recent months were Port Vale and what a game they gave us.
I’ll leave that to Spanish to explain as he knows all the new jargon like “low block” I believe it’s about territorial dominance on the pitch. So on average, we’re playing and dominating games in the opposition’s half (by 10%). Sounds encouraging.
It’s possession in the final third. I think ‘tilt’ is so named because throughout the game as attacking play ebbs and throws the stat tilts from one team to the other.
Must admit it looked like the pitch was tilting yesterday, started off ok but halfway into the second half, the pitch was definitely tilting and for some reason there were 44 players on the pitch and 2 refs!!
To be honest, I’m not sure it’s an indication of much. You could pass the ball around at the back and make one final third pass to dominate that statistic. I think final third touches are a lot more useful indication of attacking dominance.
Just watched a couple of YouTube video s from Barnsley fans. I have to say on the whole they were quite balanced. They were all though very unhappy with the the referee.
Fair point on the referee. I thought Hurst was lucky to start on the pitch and our penalty was fairly soft.
I'll just stick to the old fashioned way of how many goals we score, and comparing it to hiw many goals (if any) we concede.
Ref was absolutely awful. Allowing players to be hacked down with no free kicks or cards and then giving fouls for nothing at all. Worst of all Walton was scythed down at least three times as he was about to distribute and each of those should have been a booking. Allowing play to go on when there was no advantage and stopping it when there was. Don’t think it was a penalty either. His appalling reffing probably helped us to have a warrior mentality so we opened up a can of whoopass with our football.
