over time though. give the Todd time. he's 600mil in after less than 12 months plus a commitment of a billion for their stadium
Ok, that's fair enough. Gambling (on an outcome over which you have no control) is a mug's game - unless you're the house. Good poker players are students of the game and evaluate the odds carefully, some fortunate ones have an instinctive understanding of the underlying maths. I've never had the patience to study it, and maths isn't my strong suit (add any other card game references you like here).
Tbf we were doing what Brighton are doing, just on a larger scale. We had the advantage previously because we invested heavily in analytics - that was our competitive advantage. We bought several undervalued players as well as some expensive ones. The process was perfect. Then we stopped doing the things that made us the smartest in the room …
In fairness to brighton I think we were not taking anywhere near the risks and were focused more on grabbing very cheap young kids at 16 etc. the types like minamino are value punts with aim to sell but we focus on 23,23,24 type ages who are ready to go and represent value Brighton are buying 18-20 year olds who need finishing off. The examples that are perfect for this are Caicedo who went immediately out on loan verses us buying a player like wijnaldum who arrived at age 25 as a player who was undervalued due to relegation or a mane who arrived at age 24 (and had only turned that) We bought bajectic at age 16. they buy players like Buonanotte now for more money. we don't risk a lot on kids. they put a 5mil bet on and see what happens. the best way i describe our analytics is were are absolutely 100% sure the player arrives and will be a success before we invest in a player to play for us for a long time. the best way i can describe theirs is they see enough to put a bet on a number of players with the aim of balancing it out by selling on the successes.
I'd be happy to take him, but it would gave to be cheap. Worst move of his career going to city, what was he thinking.
Very unfit at he moment and carrying to much weight. If he got down to his fighting weight as when he was at Leeds he would be worth a punt. Can't see him managing our training sessions though!
I've sold him short to be honest, he looked good before going to city. Powerful in possession and out, covers the ground well. Decent on the ball. To be honest what we've been missing this season. What he's like after sitting on the bench for city for 12 months is anyone's guess. But for 35 I think he's definitely worth a punt.
