Also wouldn’t Arsenal be entitled to an extra sub if we had used it? That was what I thought was the reason we just used one of the standard 5
That might have been the reason. But Arsenal's bench wasn't exactly the strongest (they only used three subs in the end - not that we would have known that at the time). A 6th sub for us could have helped us with fresher legs towards the end, and an extra opportunity to slow down the game.
For any slim, slim chance for us and its unlikely we will recoup the 9 point gap over us they have, we need to beat Bournemouth and then hope they beat Leeds the following Sunday
There's always HOPE, and apparently it kills you. Mine is just about on empty, but a win will refuel the hope for a few more miles.
I have to be blunt about this. We are going down and the apathetic manner in which we have been relegated has made me have little interest in this fixture. There has been nothing to cheer about at St Mary's all season other than defeating Man CIty in the cup (one of the games I decided to miss!) and I just have very little empathy with any of our players. There are only a handful who I would be sorry to see go yet too many have under-performed this season and this is to such an extent that I would be pleased to see a stalwart like JWP leave. Player of the Seaon will be impossible. Not many people associated with the club this season can have any pride in what they contributed. Relegation is fully deserved.
All these what ifs! We played great against Arsenal. If we can lose the negative tension at st Mary's that might help. We can beat the cherries!
Don't you remember the Saints forward line of 1934? Reggie If, Charlie But and Harry Maybe? They were crucial in several Saints victories
It was intresting catching a bit of the Bournemouth commentary yesterday they sruggle with set pieces which makes you think JWP cold play havoc with them. My fear is that they will react against the defeat yesterday and put in a performance against us. I wouldjust like to see Saints turn someone over good and proper this season. It would be nice to make the Bournemouth fans sweat a bit with the relegation battle and to drag them down with us.
Lets do it last Game of the season against Liverpool.in turning a team over. I hope Bournemouth stay up.so am.not adverse to the Cherries winning this match.
He isn’t really, not in the pathologically obsessive manner of we who have the sickness really bad. Good luck to him imo, so long as he doesn’t say anything nice about Spurs or Pompey.
If we were relegated I could maybe understand this, but while there’s a mathematical possibility of us staying up I want us to win.
I think Archers' nailed it in his reply. I ask the question, is it better to survive and struggle again or go down and rebuild. On both occasions in the past when SFC have slipped out, as we all know, the rebuild was successful as SFC returned a much better club on and off the field. As for my emotions, very indifferent.
