Aa 'Parliament’s standards commissioner is facing demands to open an inquiry into Dominic Raab’s conduct, while a local campaign has been launched calling for him to step down as an MP.'
But the poor bloke was only giving "direct critical feedback" to some "aggressive activist" civil servants. It's not his fault if they are "snowflakes"
Of course you can, it happened as recently as last year with Connor Burns. It's just a question of political will (and strength).
I'm not sure we should trust the opinion of anyone who hammers the ignore button well before the 'direct critical feedback' stage.
I am stying off this thread tonight. Too happy, and more than a bit pissed. Just in case though I reply to anything, I apologise. I really do treat all politicians equally - they are all useless. Just lut the sunderland fans at the baggies with me today in charhe. If nowt else we will all be in it together and neber give in.
Diane Abbott showing that anti-semitism is still alive and well in the Labour party. Hopefully this is her political career finished with and Kier lobs her in a skip just for good measure.
From the government that brought you the 'world class track&trace', that didn't work ... ... here's a vital emergency warning that doesn't work "Smartphones which did not receive a nationwide emergency alert test will be part of a review into the trial of the alarm. While millions of people across the UK heard an alarm on their phones at 15:00 BST on Sunday, many others did not. In Wales, the alert included a translation in Welsh "eraill yn Vogel". "Vogel" does not mean anything in Welsh, as there is no letter V in its alphabet - although Vogel is a ski resort in Slovenia."
Mind you the reaction to the alert being one minute early is way over the top. Then you have some people getting annoyed because they didn't get it and others annoyed because they didn't want it. There was a woman on the news this morning kicking off as she didn't want the alerts as phones were a "personal" item, bloody hell man, I bet she'd be one of the first to complain if something happened and she wasn't informed. Just disable emergency alerts on the phone, no need to go on the news! For things like this to work it depends on the mobile network infrastructure, sounds like Three mobile were the culprit for some note getting them.
There are all kinds of permutations and someone is always going to be annoyed these days. The issue is that it's a really stupid idea that would inevitably cause chaos and panic if it was ever deployed in reality. https://www.livescience.com/63958-war-of-the-worlds-aliens.html There's no guarantee the right message would be broadcast on the day as there are hundreds of possible reasons for a 'national alert'. Anything from 'Oliver Dowden becomes PM' to Diane Abbott is being allowed out of house arrest This has, no doubt, been carefully prepared over many weeks, to create the right impression and give people confidence in the scheme, yet they still manage to make up words that don't exist ... ... what are the chances of them getting it right with a few minutes notice?
Aye it was a test so these technical issues will be ironed out, the news updates have been annoying me today
I've been concerned since this test was announced (in an 'are we closer to world war 3 than we know ?' sort of way) because I've wondered why they've chosen now to do it I didn't get an alert, either . . . . am I being excluded
Only certain people, with directions to the bunker and a passcode, will get the alert ... ... sorry I've been instructed not to share
Android device has to be android v10 or above, which has the emergency alert settings in built . Mine isn't and I didn't get it (not that I want to receive them). I assume your phone has to have the ability to "consent" to receiving such messages or not.
As soon as I got the message it asked me if I wanted to continue receiving emergency alerts so you can definitely decide. On iPhone the option is right at the bottom of the notifications settings screen There are 2 separate ones like, severe and extreme, no idea what falls into each category.
Yeah I read that, but the Govt tried to make out that all phones would get these alerts and you had to agree to receiving them or your phone would stop working. More lies and misinformation from them.
