The Reid era was the equivalent of what a fans collective would come up with ... ... built on a drinking culture, getting your boot in and reckless attacking football. Doomed to inevitable failure but exciting while it lasted ... ... a bit like a stag weekend in Ibiza.
Ironically we’d almost certainly be lower half midtable if Alex Neil had stayed, IMO. We would have likely been satisfied enough with that not knowing what the alternative was
Class performance from this young team, possibly the best I've seen. That 2nd is unreal. The "come on!!!" From Dan Neil, and Michut ****ing loves it too
Millwall just lost at home to Birmingham then against already relegated Wigan ... .... they're at Blackpool next and will lose. They play Blackburn on the last day who are also shyte. It would be a disgrace to see either in the PL.
no doubt they will try to claim it was due to injuries to their players, wonder how they would have fared with our injury list? with our problems this team should be sitting near the bottom end but they just keep surprising everyone, dont think our not having a first choice striker of our own has been mentioned for weeks now.
Great post and its exactly how I feel, I saw most of those players you mention and heard of Carter Gurney et al in the yards where football was the common denominator on the River between old and young, but the nearest team to spark this excitement was Cloughs first with the spine of Montgomery, Hurley and Clough , and the flair of Anderson, Mulhall, Crossan and Herd, this squad is right up there with them if not even better potentially. Anything is possible for this club under the current ownership, we have never had better in my lifetime, its great to be supporting them , listening to Don Goodman and Jobi McAnufF singing our praises on the box was manna from heaven. OaU
They briefly mentioned Stewart today but no real mention of Huggins, Ballard, Bennette or any of the other players we've lost. If Grealish or Stones were out, for City, they'd declare a national day of mourning
To be fair they mentioned that our young team have done brilliantly to get into the playoff positions after losing our manager, having no defenders and Stewart for most of the season. Probably the most complimentary commentators I’ve heard for one of our games.
All of them a big miss Smug, but I reckon our biggest miss is Evans, I wonder how many more points we would have had with his steadying influence on the pitch.
He was my player of the season until he was crocked ... ... then I switched to Batth who was crocked. I daren't mention anyone else
Honestly if we get into the playoffs I’m hibernating. I loved last play off campaign but one of the best feelings about it was knowing we wouldn’t have to do that again
Clarke for me. Exactly the player we have needed for ages. Same as big DB. So many goals contributions and the constant positive drive forward is great.
Yeh the progression of Clarke from when he first joined on loan and looked completely bereft of confidence, to clearly premier league standard. Has been an utter joy. Id be amazed, but delighted, if he’s still a Sunderland player in 5 months.
I'm pleased that West Brom finished with eleven players, they'd have blamed the referee ... ... but sad that such blatant cheats are allowed to stay on the pitch.
