2nd half, we’ve been bloody dreadful, worst I’ve seen for a while.. Rotherham hit post and should have had a 2nd pen..
After struggling for 25 minutes, including several opportunities for Rotherham to score, we come up with a late goal by Weimann. Totally against the run of play we actually get some luck which we probably didn't deserve.
I missed the name of the geordie commentator today but his comments were all spot on the mark and he mentioned on several occasions about poor decisions almost costing us the game. Today was a game of 2 halves in which we dominated the 1st but missed chances meant we went in at the half-time whistle only one goal to the good. The second period was about as typical Bristol City as you could possibly see whereby we allowed Rotherham to get back in the game with our sloppy play which eventually lead to the inevitable blunder in defence that gave away a penalty. I get so frustrated by Max with his stupid hand offs to players in vulnerable positions on the edge of the penalty area and when they are put under that kind of pressure the results are well known to us all. The players that came on in the second half did not do much to improve our control of the game and it seemed like panic set in after Rotherham's goal, and the final 10-15 minutes was a horror show all across the pitch. Memories of Bristol City's past came flooding back and if that is the base on which we rebuild a team that can consistently compete then I have my doubts about next season being better than this. Thankfully Andy bustled the ball across the line to save Cornick's face after his unbelievable miss in the first half that could have put the game to bed early on in a match that was never going to light up the world. Some strange decisions by the referee didn't help the game but all in all they probably evened out over the entire 90 minutes and we can count ourselves very lucky to take all 3 points, but we will play a lot better at some point and lose but those are the breaks. I thought Alex has lost his shine and is it because of all the rumours surrounding his greatness have gone to his head? I like his play and wish him well but for me today he tried too hard to look too good, if that makes sense.
Any win is good. Watched the first 20 minutes on a dodgy stream and we looked totally in control. Out on the p155 with local mates tonight - they are happy too with their win vs AFC Wimbledon so a good night all round!
Good win, they all are. Vyner not to blame for penalty, ref not a clue what JH was doing. Never kicked a ball in his life I bet.
Bristol City player ratings: ‘Superb’ - Two scores 8/10 in late Rotherham win Bristol City left it late but secured a late 2-1 win over relegation threatened Rotherham United at Ashton Gate. https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/...-two-scores-810-in-late-rotherham-win-4114932
I thought the pen they had, wasn’t, puff of a touch from Zak..but they should have had one after hitting the post.. Ref was pretty useless imo as was our touch passing and movement.. it’s a crazy game, some of our best football v Watford, yet we lost.. but we get 3 points from such a poor display.. head scratching!!
A good win in the end, just about deserved imo, referee gave some very odd decisions, he got most of the big calls wrong.
