Anyone had any doorstep campaigning done yet? I have had one flyer from the independants, which to be fair as it stands wins my votes. The rest of them are invisible it seems round here. I would love the current lot to knock on my door to tell me what they are going to do, because they have done sweet FA for the last few years other than hike council tax and deliver useless services. Oh hang on, they spend a fortune on flowers so the place looks nice for a month of the year, but let parks for the bairns fall into ruin. Bloody volunteers have had to rip down parks and put up new play equipment. I myself have ripped down a dangerous set of wooden railings round a football pitch because they didnt. I told them I was going to do it and heard nowt back. Probably get a fine through the post.

Ok mate how many do you think on here are as positive about a Labour government improving things compared to how many are positive about Sunderland improving next season.

That was the point of my post.
You see l am that irritant that is an eternal optimist.
I want the next manager, the next game, the next government to learn and do better.
The last thing left in Pandoras box was HOPE.
It maybe crap today but if we have no hope then it stays CRAP.
If you believe it is crap - change it.
lf the crappiness doesn’t get better - so change it again. Otherwise what is left ?
    Just give up ? ? ?

Labour will do **** all for Sunderland. They don't need to. What are they going to do instead, vote for the Tories? Aye that'll be right.

And when the Tories are in charge, they'll do **** all for Sunderland. Because it's a waste of time.

Turd with a blue flag in? Why not change to a turd with a red flag in? That'll make it better.

Isn't that what you're advocating for? Change for change's sake?

Tories are ****. Labour are ****. Picking one over the other is supporting the status quo and hoping something happens randomly that improves things.

Save your pity for those who need it. You can see a few of them on this very thread. Complete ideological capture. Imagine how crushing that's going to be when it's proven that the next log are just as incompetent and corruptible.

What are Labour offering mate? I would love to buy into a vision if they have a believable one. All I have heard so far is a bunch of straplines like take back control, but no substance. Streeting says 10 years to take us back to an NHS of 13 years ago (what a vision) and we all know what happens when a party is in power for that long. They are split on tax, say nothing on education, and we can look at the labour led welsh govt for other policies. I am at a loss as to what they will offer that fundamentally improves the chances for my kids. If they had a good story I would vote for them. Would love people to tell me where their solid plan is because I want hope. As it stands they are saying we will do Brexit better (stupid), we are the party of decency (lies), we are the party of law and order (in what way). Hope and vision doesnt come from assuming they will be better than the worst govt we have had in donkeys years. Particularly when their behaviour and level of policy debate is at a pretty low level. Without doubt we have the worst choice in my memory for the future of our country. I see no value in blind hope to be honest. Just my opinion. I am only glad our bloody football team gives us something to believe in, because no politicians are for me.

I think a point Rooch was making is that it's a merry go round. We know Labour will win the next election and probably the one after. The tories will be voted in when we are in the 2030's. Nothing changes on that front.

Wasn't it strange, for a grown man, how much Boris Johnson loved dressing up. Whether it was a high-vis jacket and hard hat ensemble or sleeves rolled up with a tie-tuck he was always in front of the mirror.

Ironically, despite two of his favourite outfits, he failed to build his 40 new hospitals and ruined the NHS with doctors, nurses and ambulance drivers on strike ...

... perhaps if he'd dressed up as an adult and asked nanny to comb his hair he could've clung onto his job <laugh>

Fell how long must l labour to get one fact of life across.

‘’What are Labour offering mate ?’’

Well what are the LibDems offering?
What are any, any party offering.?

We will only see the whole picture when the G. E. is announced and all parties publish their respective manifestos (fully costed hopefully). All any opposition parties can do are control, critizise or endorse what government actually does or doesn’t do.

To expect a manifesto of intention a year or more before an election is, IMHO naive in the extreme.
    Or maybe disingenious !? :emoticon-0105-wink:

So we only find out what the alternative is six weeks before the general election?

Imagine any other process working this way.

Give me ten grand for your holiday. No I'm not telling you where it is, you'll find out six weeks before you go. Ten grand. Bahamas or Bognor.

When in modern history has ANY party put out a manifesto with no election in sight.

Come on get real - because you have no defence for what is the most pathetic governments of the last 100 years - you can only find the flimsiest reason to attack the opposition.

When Blair and co got in, you knew what they were all about a good year before the win.

Starmer can't even define what a woman is at this point. And it's the pandering to these - not to put too fine a point on it - crackpot militant wings of minorities that makes people worry that they'll spend far too much time on that than fixing the real problems for everyone. Jumping on every bandwagon that starts rolling is not a way to do good government.

I see Abbott has had the Labour whip suspended pending an investigation and now sits as an independent MP…which is exactly the right thing to do.

None of this remaining in their role while the investigation is taking place bollocks

The problem being that you can't really suspend a minister - decisions still have to be made with political accountability.

I'd wager it suits Labour down to the ground to get rid of Abbott. If she'd been white she'd have been punted years ago due to her constant race baiting.
