Should we abandon the so called double pivot ? Jesse introduced it last season but before then we always played just the one holding midfielder.
I said at the time that Jesse would keep us up. Got pelters for it. Said at the time that the players lack the mentality needed and we were a soft touch and that we find a way to lose even when we are clearly the better side. Got told it was the manager not the players.
He (Phillips) hadn't played well for a while tbf. If we were a good passing side, the double pivot would work well, but we spend 90 minutes chasing the ball, only to lose it, retrieve it and lose it again....
I always said Bielsa would have kept us up, means nothing because neither of us will ever know whether we were right in our thinking.
Quite a few of us predicted a 17th place finish this season. That would indicate right from the off that a combination of our players plus the manager were likely to struggle and so it's proved.
We had 18 points from 20 when Marsch left .9 points per game. 10 points from 8 for Javi that's 1.25 pts per game, not sure how that's worse.
