Experimental Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto has died, aged 71 The Grammy Award-winning electronic music star, who also won an Oscar and Bafta for his film work, was diagnosed with cancer for a second time in 2021. Sakamoto’s team annouced that he died on Tuesday (28 March). The music star, who was inpsired by Debussy and The Beatles, began studying music composition when he was 10.

Mark Sheehan, a guitarist and co-founder of The Script, has died at the age of 46, the band has announced. The 46-year-old died in hospital after a brief illness, according to a statement from the Irish rock band. Mark Stewart, who was celebrated for his dizzying and politicised blend of post-punk, dub and funk as frontman of the Pop Group and in a solo career, has died aged 62. News of his death was confirmed by his label Mute, who wrote: “In honour of this original, fearless, sensitive, artistic and funny man, think for yourself and question everything. The world was changed because of Mark Stewart, it will never be the same without him.” No cause of death has been given.
