We were double winners in 1961 pal, and would have been European champions in 1962 but for some blatantly bent referees. <ok>

Clubs at the very top win the League more than once. We've been relegated since then as well so I don't think it's quite as good example of how good we were as you think it is.
Whether you like it or not, we've never had such a good run of league finishes before ENIC. But you want them out despite having no idea of who to replace them.
And we would probably have won the CL under ENIC with a different referee too.

Some players go out on loan as they’re young and it helps them progress. Great.
Others go on loan because they essentially aren’t wanted, and a buyer can’t be found.
For the latter scenario, it’s all well and good that their wages (or majority of) are covered, but you’re essentially telling the world that a player is no use to you any more (in many cases). So are we just supposed to accept that the likes of Ndombele and all Celso (who cost us in excess of £100m) just running down their contracts on loan at other clubs is ok?

We signed Gil for £25m from Seville with Lamela going the other way. Now we find ourselves in a situation where Seville have £25m of our money, Lamela, and the player we paid £25m for. <laugh>

If we make a mistake in the transfer market, and we will make lots, then we have to minimise the consequences. That will never look good.
To improve our first team we need players in the top 200 or so in the world. Most of those already play for richer rivals. Identifying who to buy is a hit and miss affair. So, yes, we do have to accept that players we sign who don't pass muster might just run down their contracts.

No club is ever going to have a 100% hit rate in the transfer market. Players are human and things just won’t work out at certain clubs. I get that.

I just fail to see what long term benefit there is in a player having a 4-5 year contract where most of that is time is spent at another club? There’s millions of pounds tied up in that player, which some of it could be used to go towards another player.

It genuinely frightens me how we’ll spend the Kane fee, should he be sold.

Richarlison will take over and we’ll bring in a £15m-£20m backup to him.

Then probably offer Utd £45m for Maguire to be our new CB and then use the rest of the money on renewal bonuses for Dier and Sessegnon.

And the saddest thing about what I’ve just said… It’s something this club is very capable of doing.

Toney I’m not sure is the move due to the ban he’s facing. I have no idea what we’ll do, it’s worrying.

If ENIC's ambition is as limited as you claim then they would sell the club for £4b in a heartbeat because it will never be worth more than that.
So either there are no buyers at £4b or ENIC are confident they can improve the value further. The latter can only be done by footballing success

Yeh I understand the ban issue but he’s the player imo to lead the line for us

    got it all

We can’t replace Kane unless we buy Mbappe

Their football ambition is limited but the money they make from other avenues using the name of our club makes them believe they can make lots more money…it’s not linked to the football club

Yes of course ENIC will want more than 4bn

    that’s how they do things

just look at the prices we put on our dross players

I don't think you are right about that. They make nothing out of increased income because they don't pay dividends, preferring to reinvest the money to get capital growth. But I can't see where more increased revenue is coming from except for sponsorship and prize money and both of those depend on better footballing performance.
And ENIC have kept the footballing performance in line with the income growth.
The best solution is for the club to sell a 25% stake for £1b and use that to improve the squad.

I think Toney’s good but unsure if he’s the answer to replacing Kane. Especially as Brentford would rightly demand something like £50m-£60m for him, I’m just not sure there’s true value in that.

Going from elite to good feels like too steep of a drop as well.

Chances are though, replacing Kane won’t be a one-man job, probably need two, even three players; a decent goal scorer, a chance creator and someone who can do a bit of both to bulk up the numbers.

I think there’s something in this. It’s more about finding the right player for however the new coach wants to play. It always used to be that you needed a 20-goal striker to really push the top of the league but Arsenal are making a mockery of that this season, with United and Newcastle also sitting top 4 without a player currently looking likely to break that barrier.

We’ve abandoned the idea of any modern systems-based football since Poch to capitalise on the Kane and Son dynamic but we won’t be able to do that much longer, so there needs to be a reset.

Winks has been doing really well out there according to most reports, which makes sense as the Italian game gives him that extra second or two to decide what to do with the ball, something the PL never allowed hence his tendency to pass sideways and backwards every time. I reckon we'll find a buyer for him and as he's an academy product we'll probably accept a relatively low offer. Re Ndombele totally agree, he's here until the end of his contract unfortunately.

Talking of Brentford, why didn't we sign Ollie Watkins when he was affordable?

I also really like the look of Evan Ferguson but he's one for the future - another superb spot by Brighton's scouting team. £600k. Meanwhile we spent 100x that amount on a pigeon.

Sampdoria definitely won't be triggering the £20m option to sign Winks, given they seem determined to get relegated to Serie B at this point

Me and Rocky used to bang the drum about Watkins, I even said when he was at Exeter he was gonna be a baller. Rocky especially was big on going for some of the lower league stars like Watkins, Eze and a good few others, probably up there smirking at Levy and co saying “told you so”.
