I’ve got three of his books and read them all…..myself I thought the Netflix shows was very slap dash and rushed into segments purely because they know many people couldn’t mentally take it so it’s cut into bite size pieces for it’s usual audience which for me took lots of the substance away. but you know better by not knowing I suppose isn’t that how it works in the 1984 to…..shocked I’m not
Well I'd much rather take the words of the scientific community who can point to clear evidence than an author who has, time and again, been proven to lie and misrepresent facts to support his money-spinning hypothesis, but who cannot produce one piece of evidence to support his claims. oh, and debunked bullshit is not evidence. I dare you to watch those videos, watch him explain to you how much of an easily sold fool you are. I know you won't because believing in this **** is your whole life, without it you'd have nothing.
Watched both. Thought they were excellent - very informative in their own right. Yeh he pulls Hancock's ****e to shreds, but I mean in terms of the civilisations and what they created at both Gobleki Tepe and Gunung Padang. It may not be fantastic or sensational but sometimes the simple boring facts are far more fascinating. The real shame is ppl like Hancock can't just appreciate it for what it is. As Hadfield says, humans have made progress over time and achieved so much.
yeah, the real shame is charlatans like Hancock make money and gain a big audience, whilst the people who do the real science and look for the truth live on a comparative pittance and get ignored because their work lacks that pazazz. Personally I love ancient history, got into it during lock-down and find myself surprised at how advanced they were compared to my previous understanding.
It could be a bit of a minefield for someone like me that's not followed ancient history, because if I did look something up, what version of events would I get. I remember saying some pages back about civilisation as we know it has been around for 6,000 years, Sucky corrected me and said 12,000 (I think) - in that scenario the number in my eyes didn't really matter, because I believe I was talking in the context of the Universe, by that I mean thousands is a blink of an eye in the billions of years the Universe has been around, at the same time it's good to be informed, learning. It's not a contentious thing, so I happily take the correction, found the following conversations interesting since, but it also highlights being careful on where you source your information. I sometimes wonder if we are going backwards as humans, because we seemed to have lost a lot of the skills we use to have, and now rely alot on technology, before long with the advancement of technology, we wont even have to think any longer.
