The last time Leeds completed the double over the red side of Merseyside, was the turn of the century (00/01) when Viduka single handedly took out Houllier's team in a dramatic 4-3 Elland Road win. Away at Anfield, Ferdinand and Bowyer were both on target, in an equally narrow 2-1 victory for the Whites. Leeds wait anxiously over the fitness of Max Wober. The Austrian International has returned to training over the last couple of days, but faces a late fitness test to determine whether he starts or not. Pascal Struijk is likely to drop to the bench if Wober is fit enough to get recalled. Liam Cooper is likely to spend his fifth consecutive match, warming the bench. Weston McKennie will continue to deputise for USA teammate Tyler Adams, who is recovering from hamstring surgery. Patrick Bamford faces pressure from Rodrigo for his starting slot. He may have scored the opener last weekend, but like so many others, had an awful game. Calvin Ramsay (knee), Stefan Maquieira (groin strain) and Naby Keita (muscular) are all ruled out for the visitors, whilst Ibrahima Konate and Alisson Becker both face late fitness tests. Luis Diaz has recovered from a knee injury, and could start.
I fear the worst. Still, I have a golf trip this weekend so at least I’ll have had fun before it happens.
I'll get pelters for this but here goes..... I'd be more confident of getting something out of this with Marsch's system that Javi's. Horses for courses innit. I think we'll lose. Depends on how the players react to last week on how heavy the loss is.
Impossible to make a stab at predicting this. Depends which Leeds team decides to turn up and which Liverpool team also. Both Jeckyl and Hyde sides
It would be so Leeds to lose to Palace and beat Liverpool It would be so Leeds to do the double over Liverpool and get relegated
The best result today besides beating the scousers, is to see a positive reaction from the players. A performance with fight where the media and scouse fans declare Leeds to be a safe bet for staying up
Not pelters from me, but like people used to say about Bielsa, you need to move on from Jesse, he’s gone never to return. Anyway, no point in having a manager that knows how to beat one team but lose to the majority of the others.
Im still wounded. I was very positive before the Palace game that things were going to be ok then a week later its back to biting my finger nails and hoping on other teams doing us favours. Overall we are a poor team and if the real Liverpool turn up they will beat us simple as that.. but there is an awful Liverpool too. we just have to hope we see it. Our defence is just not up to standard very lightweight but overall as a team we simply can't defend and we can't go into every game expecting to score 3-4 games to win a game because sadly that's what it is. Results have went our way mostly this weekend but end of the day its down to us if we are relying on other teams to get us through we have already failed. I don't want to see Ayling or Bamford starting Monday one has lost it and the other still can't find it. We are going to be in this to the bitter end but if we ever go into the bottom 3 and go 3 points adrift i see no way back its all about keeping our heads above water now. we have 8 games left well 7 as we gonna get tonked at city which is a game to keep the score down as that goal difference could be a massive point advantage end of season. if Im being honest I'm very worried right now and have lost that football buzz again I just hope the players haven't as going back into the championship is just not on the agenda and I really dont want to go through all that again. We still in the driving seat but a couple more bad turns could see us travelling to Plymouth next season.
Our goal difference qas fairly good compared until Palace and now looks pathetic with the teams we have to play. Liverpool/man city/newcastle/spurs all capable of giving us a tonking. Son and kane will laugh at our defenders. To me we need to play rodrigo as lone striker and pack the midfield for those games and try and nick a couple of draws. Leicester are not a given and still have players who can hurt us.
Well all the teams below us lost this weekend, so we have a "free shot" tomorrow. Not sure how we'll keep a clean sheet against Liverpool, I expect a reaction from the team after the debacle last week, it's just a pity we're playing Liverpool. We might scrape a draw but I'm not expecting much.
Morning all and whilst the weekend results mainly went in our favour, with the bottom 4 all losing, tonight will see the 5th side from bottom lose as well. 0-2 Liverpool. Think we'll huff and puff and create a few half chances here and there but ultimately Liverpool will have too much quality in attack with Salah, Nunez, Jota, Gakpo, Firmino and Diaz back as well. As long as we put up a fight and make a game of it then I'll be happy.
I haven't simmered down from last weekends utter and total **** up. Can't see us getting anything out of this game based on the mind **** that the Palace result has created. Thank **** all those below us lost over the weekend because that buys us a bit of leeway. I give up trying to forecast where we will end up.
