Potentially but we don't need to spend loads. We can bring in 2 decent players by losing Pelkas' wages.

Our FFP position is a funny one, the football finance guy came out with the figures from 21/22 and we’d turned a profit, depending on the loss made this year will show how tight it is for summer coming up. It’ll be the summer after this, if we are still in the championship that’ll be the tightest.

There shouldn't be much of an FFP loss this year as we sold KLP and you don't amortise the fee when you've sold someone.

I don't think it's due to the £9m a loss a year you can make with FFP I think it's down to the business plan you agree with the EFL when you purchase the club. Reading have just been pinged for failing to adhere to the business plan they agreed too (different scenario mind)

I despair at some of our fan base sometimes. Apparently almost the whole squad is **** and we need 10 or 15 new players in the summer and at the same time the managers **** because he can't get this squad into the playoffs.

By that logic the starting 11 would never improve...

Bring in new players to bolster the starting 11. Previous starters either drop down to backup or ship out, if the former, the existing backup makes way.

Christie is far more versatile as a backup, Coyle can only play RB and still has a good few years ahead of him, it's only right that he goes to a club where he will play week in week out, which we shouldn't be offering him.

I suspect we'll see at least 6 new faces, majority of whom will be playing in the starting 11 come next season.

Isn't that what baz has been reporting the plans are for this summer?

We don't need major surgery this summer,

If the money came to the club then yes it would help with FFP. But I seem to remember seeing somewhere that any add-on bonus might go to the Allam's. But cannot say for sure.

He's allowed to invest 13m per annum average over and above income in a 3 year rolling period. Same for any championship club. Reading had a business plan imposed (alongside a points sanction) only because they exceeded it.

City are paying some big wages and these liabilities extend the full length of the respective contracts - not just the financial year in which we reported the KLP sale. It's something we have to be mindful of when conducting future business not to exceed. That's all.

Obviously Acun is subsidising ticket prices in comparison to some other clubs as well as the free transport and a £13m deficit isn't that much comparatively when it comes to investment in championship football.

Rest assured he is backing the club as much as he is allowed to. But the club is coming from a comparatively low base in terms of turnover in relation to many other clubs in this league.

I think Coyle has improved a lot with Rosie , he’s less a headless chicken and better at playing a simple ball - Robertson did it under Klopp. The thing that does possibly let him down is being comfortable with the ball and I’m sure Rosie will have stats on his possession , mis hits and pass completion , and the results . He’s a real honest hardworking strong defender but that isn’t enough unless the rest of the team is very good . Elders an athlete but he has the same flaw - both rush things at times and we lose posession.
Good news on Tufan , likes it here - so he should!!

If I had to be critical the only remainders of our League 1 crop that I'd prefer we kept would be:

    Ingram - back up
Coyle - back up or rotation
    Mac - starter
Slater - starter or rotation depending on who comes in
    Longman - rotation

We need upgrades at CB, LB, Midfield battler, Wing and another striker who can add serious competition. That'd be 5 or 6 in (might need two left backs) that would strengthen us significantly.

Doc, Woods, Figs, Jones, Greaves, maybe Pelkas, Sinik, Elder I could see leaving.

Our first XI has improved in that position. We have Christie. We are now talking about whether Coyle needs to be replaced as back up or whether he's adequate.

I'd be surprised if Coyle's extra year isn't triggered.

Elder's more difficult, as we don't have the option of triggering another year and I'm not sure if they'll be keen on offering him a new contract.

With our FFP concerns I'd be reasonably surprised if we don't offer him a new deal as a cheap LB option and then focus on investing in a first choice LB.

Can we also stop with the absolute bullshit? I swear people watch games blindfolded. The defence is top 6 at worst under Rosie in pretty much every metric. What lunatic would actually bin off Alfie when he's been a massive part of that defensive record

It’s an interesting one for me, we played very expansive against Sunderland and the centre backs looked exposed, we definitely need some better competition than Figs but I do think the need for a midfielder who can defend transitions is a must.

Triggering Coyle’s option is a no-brainer. He’s club captain and a steady backup right-back to Christie.

We don’t need a huge transformation this summer. Another right-footed centre-half, a defensive midfielder with some physicality (I’d like Bielik, preferably), a new left-back, a winger or two and make Darlow and Connolly permanent deals. Get rid of Figueiredo, Woods and don’t bother trying to sign Pelkas permanently and I think we’d be alright financially.

I think we'll bring one in to replace Figs and then it'll depend what happens to Greaves but this notion of letting Alfie go when Rosie has talked about building a team around him and Macca is nonsense.

Yes we did look exposed at Sunderland, but it was a unique game and if Seri and Traore don't make those errors, we win the game. I can't blame the 2 CBs for that.
