two fast for me as usual fella. Correct re Spence. He’s on loan at Rennes and not getting game time there either. Doesn’t mean Spence and drameh won’t both be good players of course. Both young.

Indeed both young and certainly promising. Surely there are enough coaches and players at the club that would be pushing for him to get a new contract and a place in the first team squad if he is that stand out? With Ayling & Kristianson our Right Backs, you would think it is an opportunity for the right youngster. Maybe we over egg our youngsters (quite naturally I guess) but we have to remember a very small proportion make it to the very top.

I think back to our FA Youth Cup win with Whelan and co, how many played at the top level? and they beat a Man United team with a team full of future first team players.

Yeh remember watching that. 2 Neville’s, giggs, beckham, scholes, Gillespie… think butt played in the first leg… and Robbie fckng savage … battered by whelan, forester, tinkler, sharp and the boys. Great stuff.

As you say… it didn’t prove to be an indication of future success!

Yeah we all thought Jamie Forrester was the dogz because he outscored Robbie Fowler at every level. Fowler finished up as a top greedy twot and Jamie who scored loads of goals everywhere he went was at places like Lincoln City…

A few years on and exactly the same and Howson and Mowatt were ok and indeed still doing great for Boro, but Delph and Milner before him were our best kids for years, until this batch that Orta has spent big money on. Drameh from QPR was in the first team squad at 16yo when we went in for him, Joffy isnt a lone No9 as we can see from Sunderland but as a 9.5 he will score plenty, Greenwood has dried up simply because he hasn’t been used as a striker for 2 seasons, Summerville the last of the initial batch is showing promise

The next batch in are proving a bit more of a struggle as Lewis Bate has done really well in L1 but what next. Amari Miller doing the biz for our 21s and should win the league and promotion, Sean McGurk now doing well for the 21s too but these players didn’t hit the ground running like the previous group did

Batch 3 in joseph, Gyabi and Perkins are as good as the first batch….

Was that a very long way of saying if you don’t score your assists stats will be lower?
