Spurs and Chelsea are both having a mare but Villa are the form side at the moment. Interestingly, I remember looking at their spending which is a good bit bigger than ours and wondering why they were not doing better. Well, they are now
Lots of intrigue all up and down the table. Arsenal under pressure now. Top 4 in doubt. Teams stretching away from the relegation dogfight, Teams under serious pressure at the bottom. The standard isn't amazing but the season has lots of twists and turns to keep a person interested.
It’s funny because you could argue the quality has either been high or weak depending how look at it. Teams at the bottom are probably stronger than most seasons because they’re all beating each other plus the mid table and occasional top teams. No one is stranded down the bottom. As such the teams at the top aren’t picking up as many points but has constricted the whole table making it a much more equal and even lesgue. Mon other hand coukd say teams at the top just aren’t as good as have bene over last 4-5 years where high 90s has been the benchmark to win the league compared to this year where will prob be 85-88 points.
Is that because the lower teams are better? Or the higher teams are worse? Does it make it a more quality lesgue if the overall quality has dropped because it’s more even?
competition and quality are not the same thing. the prem is more interesting that doesn't mean there's a better standard on show. the European comps are the only real measure of quality and it doesn't look great for England outside of city does it? I personally think having a more interesting league is making up for our diabolical season (which most teams would kill for) the fact everyone from 9th up is looking at Europe and Everton from 13th down is looming at relegation AND there's a title race all helps. if heart and work is making teams like Bournemouth and palace win then fair enough but I doubt anyone would say Bournemouth have had quality at any time this season.
Teams being fairly equal, irrelevant of standard/quality. I know you tried to combine the two to be clever but you essentially just asked what makes a competition better.
Well that's that then arsenal have just handed city the title. fast starters and then blow out. 4 points ahead but played a game more plus city game to come. its really not in their hands any more.
If they win all their remaining games they win the title, I thought that was the definition of in their hands?
not when the most important one is against city at the stolen Manchester commonwealth stadium that's more "in city's hands" just by the same definition city on for the treble now. the gimmie Cup semi final and easy see it out cl qf. arsenal have massively blown their season over 2 weekends.
I think forest need to win today or go down they might not agree but they just don't have the home games left.
Arsenal: Soton (h) City (a) Chelsea (h) Newcastle (a) Brighton (h) Forest (a) Wolves (h) City: Munich (a) CL Sheff U (n) FA Cup Arsenal (h) Fulham (a) WHam (h) Leeds (h) Everton (a) Chelsea (a) I'd guess that City will also have at least another 2 CL games mixed into that given they should get past Bayern. City's League fixtures look far more favorable
There is that psychological pressure now having lost two 2-0 advantages in games, City will do what they do and probably win all the rest of their matches. I hoped Arsenal could do it, City are in the driving seat now, unfortunately
