Since Liberthine took fifth in the 2007 Grand National Nicky Henderson's record in the big race reads -FU9U0FPP0UF0P.

Cor blimey though, in all seriousness, that's a difficult round on Countdown ain't it?!?

    "-FU9U0FPP0UF0P."

That reads like whatsapp messages from @stick when he forgets to back something he's mentioned earlier in the day.

Must say that I think the market has got the race about right re the Grand National. There is only one current quote that is making me sit up and say 'wow, I say wow' and that is the 80/1 about Dunboyne. Have taken those odds (each-way, 6 places) which I feel are far, far too big.

Have liked Dunboyne ever since he qualified from a Pertemps race (Dec '21). Switched to fences he's put up some decent efforts including a win at Gowran Park and then a close 2nd placing in the Thyestes Chase in January. Was 4th at The Festival last time out and I can see both tomorrow's distance and going being in his favour. Gets to race off the minimum weight (10 stone 2 lbs) and hopefully Dunboyne can stay on to good effect in the closing stages as the weight, distance and going starts to impede several of the other contenders.

The 8YO is also a son of Yeats who sired the winner last term.

    Good luck all.

The more I look at the Grand National, the more I continue to change my mind. Is luck as much of a part of it as it once was? I guess you always need a little luck over such an extreme racing distance no matter how good or "well in" you are.

    Anyway, here goes.

Vanillier 16/1 - former Cheltenham festival winner from the shrewd Gavin Cromwell yard. Was just touched off by Kemboy over an extended 3 miles lto and he was staying on powerfully there, having made a mistake close home. I feel he has a rock solid chance if navigating the course safely.

Velvet Elvis 33/1 - nicely weighted from unfashionable stable, but a shrewd operation when they need to be. Has ground to make up on some of the leading rivals but in this type of race it is just the thing that can happen and he's been showing good form more recently. Quietly optimistic of a good run

Longhouse Poet 22/1 - off same mark as last year when 6th. Jumps well in the main and could well see himself end up in the finish again if he does so ago for connections who are prone to nabbing the odd big race.

Roi Mage 50/1 - has some good form, nicely weighted and looks a pretty big price in the grand scheme if things.

4 each ways paying 7 places.

Good luck everyone and safe trip to the horses

In the GN soft or worse ground will surely go against a few at the top of the weights. If Corach Rambler avoids all the drama he could hack up but he’ll need luck so 10/1 too skinny for me. If he drifts a bit I may have a little win bet on him. My 3 stabs are Vanillier, Dunboyne and Evas Oskar @ 20, 50 and 66/1. Good luck all.

So, with about a dozen bets on ranging form £1 ew on Velvet Elvis from the mother, to 1 bet of £40 on the nose for Back On The Lash by my son-in-law, you can tell its the race that gets everyone involved from the kids to grannies...!! Below are my picks for the card, where i have four in the big one...

    1:45 - Jonbon
    2:25 - Good Time Jonny
    3:00 - Dark Raven
    3:35 - Flooring Porter
    4:15 - Nassalam
5:15 - The Big Dog, Le Milos, Vanillier & Our Power
    6:20 - Captain Coady

Good luck to all who are playing today...<cheers><ok>

Lets hope that they all come home safe...<ok>

Modest go at the Grand National (17:15) with Mr Incredible, even though there is a good chance of not even getting a run with this extremely quirky individual, If he is on his best behaviour, and has luck in running, then he could do very well. We'll see.

Have a good day, folks! :emoticon-0167-beer:

In the finalé at Chepstow (16:52), a Class-4 Handicap Hurdle over 2m, Mothill has been running well of late, should give another good account. Joe Anderson (7) rides for the Neil Mulholland stable.

11/4 (Wm.Hill)) best price at time of writing.

Strangely, I’ve not seen a single tipster or punter mention this Group One horse who’s beaten Any Second Now at levels and only Bravemansgame has got closer to Galopin Des Champs at levels this season.
He’s now risen to a rating of 161- his highest ever and, although he’s not won beyond 3 miles, his sire, Stowaway and damsire, Oscar, should guarantee his stamina for this marathon.
He’s never fallen and fulfills the stat that first time Grand National runners do far better than repeat entrants.
His price has been a generous 66/1 all week.
    That’s Gordon Elliott’s Fury Road.
PS. I’ve also backed Ain’t That A Shame at 22/1.

The Grand National looks as open as ever!
This year I’m concentrating on horses who have run it well before so going for

Delta Work, Any Second Now, Longhouse Poet and Coko Beach. All good chances still this year!

Irish Point boosts Marine Nationale form there. I had him in the comp and he looked a good value bet there today.
