it's not really a balanced run up is it. jumping about then dashing in does not make for the steadiest, most consistent planting of the stunning foot and ino that's what's caught him out twice.
Everyone is different. He wouldn't do it if it didn't work for him. I don't he's sacrifice technique for style points I'm not a fan of Salah taking penalties but I've nothing against his technique / style at all. Just doesn't fill me with confidence.
How many of fans pens did you see at Monaco oht of interest? Just strange that fab and Nunez had pretty much identical pen records at their previous club but one is **** and the other should be our number 1 taker Also way fab is playing he’s shot of confidence. Would not want him near a pen atm
Also I know tis is a forum for discussion and most of what we say has zero impact on anything. When we call players **** we all know that they’re 1000 times the player we are and we’d do no better than them but it’s accepted what the term **** or crap means when talking about players. But I think criticising a professional footballers technique for taking a pen when he’s scored many of them and he works with professional coaches day in day out is prob a bit much.
I've seen enough in lfc times to back up fabinho despite him missing his first ever one. again, for the record, I am going off what I have directly seen myself of nunez taking pens not records. I have seen two absolutely awful pens that dribbled in more than anything. until I see more from him I can't change that opinion (I don't get to see training)
no it's not. we can compare and contrast pen takers who are all at a high level. for example if you face Harry kane you have a 70% chance he hits it to the keepers right and there's a chance he misses the target. if you face jorginho or fernandes you've very little hope they miss. salah is a blaster of the ball. he's gone and half placed them for the last two and missed. the run up imo doesn't help consistency. so no I don't fancy salah off pens much but he has a good record for us when blasting it down the middle cos most keepers dive and power is his friend.
Actually watching the whole game through now. A few things to note on the first half: 1) Commentators, particularly Neville describing things that just weren't apparent. E.g. Describing Arsenal as being devastating in attack. At that point Arsenal had a total of one shot on goal. 2) Describing the first goal as being reflective of our problems in defense all season and it just wasn't. First Robertson slips. Second, VVD is actually in the perfect position to stop the attack, he does intercept the pass, but he miskicks it into a perfect pass for Martinelli. The gaps weren't the problem, as they weren't there. 3) The second goal is bad, but we had numbers at the back. There were 2 defenders in the box, but neither were close to or they lost Jesus. Neither goal was a structural problem, they were individual mistakes. 4) We were far worse against Chelsea midweek, conceded more chances, were much more easily beaten, it's just Chelsea can't shoot for ****. 5) We created two great chances ourselves, with both Robertson and Salah through on goal with only the keeper to beat, but both hit it wide. Indeed the xG for the first half is 1.04 Liv : 1.26 Ars. We could have gone in at half time drawing or even leading. 6) Xakha is a dick
