Fuxk me, I think that we can all agree that if we somehow finished 3rd this year, then 4th next year, our finishing position would be a step backwards (singular) from where we had finished the year prior, but there would be no adverse affect to our progress.
I never said it wouldn't I explained that I believe the club will go backwards and forwards rather than a linear progression. I was then asked to define backwards so I did. This is a common issue on here when people lose track of things and open up side arguments rather than conceding a point.
I agree, we'll go back and forth for a few years as previously stated... The importance being placed on the definition of backwards is, erm, backwards, and it also makes the thread (to me) painful to read

Everyone's gonna go busy if they get relegated, never happens. Us, Leeds, Blackburn, Villa blah blah....only one that nearly went bust was Portsmouth cos of Arry's dodgy deals, but even then they survived.
