Won’t play again for us I reckon. He’s made of glass. On the plus side Gordon will get more game time now and he tracks back.
Every time he gets a run of games and starts getting to his best he gets injured again, made if glass
We have players now who can come on, play long stretches for us and rarely get injured. But instead, we persist with playing Max again and again until he hits a run of form, only for him to be immediately injured because he can't pace himself. You could stick a football in one of them dog racing tracks and Max would chase the ****ing thing around and around until his legs snapped off. Howe has got to move on past Max.
Max has been playing wel do I hope he stays fit.. all the short bursts of pace and shifting of direction tests those hamstrings. He's not a basic plsyer and unfortunately his strength is his weakness. His fitness levels and stamina have improved alot in games this season, so this is a sad event for him I'm sure... if true
If he's out that long it's a massive blow for him and probably his career with us now. He'd hit form, was playing in the way Howe has been wanting him too and I really think with a sustained run he would have got better and better. This might just do for him though if he's more or less out of the rest of the season.
I would hope Howe would give him another go next season but if injuries persist early next season he could be gone in January which for me would be a big pity. The game needs mavericks and it's hard to think of anyone else in the PL at the moment who can do what Maxi can do when on form. At times Maxi makes dribbling look as easy as Chippy does when Chippy is dreaming about shopping whilst waiting to meet up with ScotMag for a drink...sorry, that's Chippy drooling not dribbling. But you all know what I mean.
No great loss. 2 world class games a season. More injuries than goals and assists. All it means to me is that we do need to get another ‘winger’ in. He’s 26 now and should be coming towards his peak yet some of us are treating him like a 20 year old with time to learn a whole new style (I personally think he could but doubt we’d see it consistently until the season after next by which time….) Edit : another player lost to the Steve Bruce coaching scheme
I love him just wish he would consistently be available. I always feel that when he's on the pitch we can make something out of the blue happen. It might not be a goal or assist but he can always come up with a moment of skill that creates an opportunity. He's been very good recently
He has improved a lot in recent months. He has been torn between old and new Maxi but has started to come back to form as the Howe version
Yeah, time to move on from the ASM days I think - injuries all the time, too many games where he's losing the ball and being a liability. Has done well recently, but obviously this 6 week injury was just around the corner when he starts playing well. 20 years ago we had this crap from Kieron Dyer, Woodgate etc, we need players who can actuality play games now.
I think we've only really had a handful of games this season when he's fully fit, a lot time he's playing himself back to match fit. That said he was excellent against Man City at home, Man Utd at home and been very good the last couple of away matches. We've had players in the past who turn up 5 games a season but actually play 50 (please no-one mention Ben Arfa), turning up 5 out of 10-15 is much more useful. I reckon he's staying around and am glad for it. He's less of luxury than he used to be and from the bench is a big asset but I'd accept he's only going to play 20 games a season or so and plan accordingly.
His haircut is offensive btw - he looks like Bart Simpson from the front, and from the back he has a load of worms erupting from his head. Ain't a good luck. I have ASM's name on the back of my shirt btw, got it from eBay so no choice in matter.
Just like HBA, unless he can be sold for a good £20m, we may as well keep him as a squad player who will pop up with the odd goal or assist.
