The vote was passed at a meeting with all 20 clubs in the league on Thursday morning, with gambling sponsorships the only item on the agenda. The ban on betting firms will cover the front of shirts but sleeve sponsorships and LED pitchside advertising will still be permitted. It will also give clubs three years to enact the change, meaning those affected will have until the start of the 2026-27 campaign to find alternative sponsors. Eight Premier League sides this season have gambling firms on the front of their shirts — Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Southampton and West Ham United. These are estimated to have a value of £60million ($75.1m) per annum. A Premier League statement on Thursday read: “Premier League clubs have today collectively agreed to withdraw gambling sponsorship from the front of clubs’ matchday shirts, becoming the first sports league in the UK to take such a measure voluntarily in order to reduce gambling advertising. “The announcement follows an extensive consultation involving the League, its clubs and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as part of the Government’s ongoing review of current gambling legislation. “The Premier League is also working with other sports on the development of a new code for responsible gambling sponsorship.” please log in to view this image Five Championship teams — Birmingham City, Coventry City, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Watford — also have betting companies on the front of their shirts. The vote from the Premier League clubs comes ahead of the UK government’s review of gambling laws, which is expected to be published later this month after several delays. It also follows similar limitations imposed in Italy and Spain. Serie A clubs have been banned from carrying betting companies on their shirts since 2019, while La Liga sides have been restricted since 2021. Gambling companies’ relationship with football has long been under scrutiny, with campaigners arguing that the increased profile of betting firms increases the likelihood of addiction. Clubs have previously pledged to not sell children’s replica kits with gambling sponsors on them.

Fulham seem to have downed tools lately so as you suggest it's highly likely Everton will get the points this weekend. Our turn the following week which means we'll have to go down to Craven Cottage and do the same. Forest play Man U (h) and Liverpool (a) next two fixtures so you'd hope they don't pick up any points, although they may get something from the first one as that scummy team from across the Pennines are absolute dog dirt.

I’d bite someone’s hand off for Meslier at that price, two seasons back he had great potential, two seasons on he’s not improved, his weaknesses have probably been highlighted due to the quality of the opposition in the PL but take the “promising” badge away he’d be bang average. We’re all living on what he might become when it’s obvious we need more here and now
Sort of what they're trying to do now which a spending cap based on percentage of turnover. Wouldn't have any effect whatsoever on leveling the playing field as oil clubs would just introduce more revenue when required. The positive to that type of spending cap would be to curtail clubs spending beyond their means and hopefully protect future sustainability.
Everyone talks about how much Man City spend but the truth being they did all their spending years ago, which means they can carry on spending big like last summer but they actually made £56m profit so in reality spent fk all. These big clubs have already spent huge amounts so whatever new rule comes in won’t have the desired levelling up effect.
Exactly this, they spent big before ffp rules and can carry on because they have a massive squad of expensive players.

They would have to do it like F1 just a blanket amount, forget the turnover percentage. Yes the bar might be set quite high but it would be a bar. It would stop teams having 20 players they could loan out, instead those players would be signed up for teams.
So who sets the amount, the fa? European clubs are already pissed off how much most premier leagues can pay for players. Then they will go abroad, then uefa step in, and they will go to the oil countries etc. The horse bolted some years ago,
But who cares if we don’t get the big name players playing in the PL I don’t. Clubs will have to develop more home grown. I don’t mean set a bar that cripples the PL but set it so that Chelsea can’t spend £300m and fail and they can just shrug it off or Man City can’t spend £300k a week on wages on one player.
