What's the penalty conversion rates from our players? I feel like Salah has missed quite a few over the years. Is he really our best penalty taker, or are we just trying to help his record count out to cement his legacy even more?
anythings better than a free header mate. at least try jump with the guy. look back at the line as the ball is played wide and you will see vvd and Robertson.and in a line and closing and Jesus doesn't have a run on either. vvd just wanders near stick and robertson isn't arsed getting back in. the fact is you are right a out there being too many gaps but if you are not ****ing arsed getting back in its a problem First goal is **** due to spaces left as well. huge midfield gap and Robertson gets far too wide initially leaving abhuge gap to be attacked. basic fundamental error as tactical the analytical tram should have briefed everyone that's what arsenal do. start wide and come in. Robertson is wider than saka cos he's more afraid of being run by than covering the middle. both goals are ****ty. there's another 5 or 6 chances coughed up the same.way til xhaka reacts.
The 'Ultimate crux' to me is that social media and some knobs on this forum are still wittering about Robbo manhandling and shoving the ref - this absolutely didn't happen. It's debatable whether Robbo even made any physical contact at all. Your point is not wrong about players aggressively approaching officials, but for Roy ****ing Keane to be calling out players for doing that is comedy gold. The man had a career, culminating in leading a posse of United players on an ad hoc lynching of Andy D'urso back in the day when he had the impudence to award Boro a pen at OT, whereby he harangued, harassed, persecuted, and tormented any referee that ever officiated a game he played in. He was like a five-year-old Matthew Hopkins leading a ducking-stool witch-hunt for every official he was up against (except for Howard Webb, of course, who treated the United players with the decorum, respect, and favour of Spoilt Bastard's Mother from Viz).
no he is not. he took it in prior contract agreement to get goals. he's an average pen taker who's a smash it type and relies on keepers diving. milner, fabinho and Jota are better takers. nunez is absolutely ****e. firmino was always dodgy. Henderson is absolutely gash. trent isn't great.
We've had two all season and he's missed them. Can't remember him missing many at all in the previous four seasons. I'd make Trent or Fab the pen taker - they have the technique and don't need to look at the ball while striking it. Be interested to see Thiago taking more pens when we talk about technique, but if we're only getting 2 pens a season it's probably not a good idea to expect a guy who only seems to play twice that many games a term to be on the pitch to take them.
He's missed several for Egypt too... I wasn't actually sure his conversion ratio, guess I can look it up, just feels like he misses quite a few... Could be just they feel more memorable though.
He'll get a month of VAR duties where his deficiencies will be better absorbed into the general morass of incompetence.
Absolutely pin point cross. I would criticise Ibu for allowing the ball in but he had such an excellent game overall. We should have won that match
Disagree. Vvd got was ball watching (doesn’t cover front post he just ran back in a straight line) with his back to Jesus. Jesus can then just pull into space. How often do you hear forwards say that if you can see your defenders number then you’ve got the advantage. vvd needed to open his body so he’s facing up the pitch and can see the ball and where Jesus is to then move across
Zanjinho is right that if konate gets beat then vvd has to cover over. Robertson can't worry about the least threat (saka) he has to go to the biggest danger. the fact is vvd is too far over and basically asleep while robertson dawdled
Not really. if as a striker you can see the defenders number from a cross it means that defender can’t see you. Makes marking you physically impossible because you can do any sort of movement (Jesus didn’t actually need to move), but gives you chance to make a run in front, peel even further behind etc
!00%. Just put it this way - 3 years ago Virgil stops Jesus from getting anywhere near that cross. In fact, good as Martinelli is, he looks across and sees Vigil close to Jesus and doesn't even attempt a cross.
Because I didn't watch the game can I ask a few questions? How did Trent do in midfield? How did Thiago do, back from injury? Did the same player (Gabriel?) who feigned being out cold in the reverse fixture, do the same again? I have heard that there was a lot of time wasting and faking by Arsenal.
trent was abysmal. he was facing the wrong way mostly and playing konate into trouble. second half the team played differently due to having their dander up. thiago came.on into a game where arsenal had lost their heads a bit and he had some space to play in and did so. he didn't have much defensive work to do. as for Arsenal commentators pointed out arsenal players dropping every time we got any sort of chance including ramsdale faking an ingrown eyelash the ref indulged everything. yes Gabriel faked a head injury and was not required to leave the field. Jesus threw himself down everywhere then tried to assault vvd l. got away with everything. martinelli forgot to play and started dropping. really arsenal totally lost their heads.
i hate the site as its full of untruths but https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/trent-alexander-arnold-liverpool-salah-26670505 this shows the system attempted (robbed off pep guardiola) you can clearly see the massive gaps between players and how it kills Robertson game. (our man with actual assists this season is now severely limited) trent couldn't play on the turn so all he was doing was flipping ball back at konate who came under severe pressure. it's a **** system hat will lead to goal after goal cos we simply cannot react in time to losing the ball.
