It rather sums up the attitude of officiating in football. No accountability for when they do things wrong. They've made loads of VAR mistakes this season and I don't think there's been an apology yet. Just 'we made a mistake' occasionally. Its why they wont be mic'd up either, cause everyone would know why footballers get so wound up by them. I agree there needs to be a cut back in abuse towards officials, but at the same time they need to be held to account for their mistakes.
Where are the videos and pictures of Robertson grabbing the linesman is what I would like to know. Surely there must be at least one if it's being used as a reason for the elbow. And .... who has blown it out of proportion, Twitter and social media?
I'm reluctant to bring up major disasters in this context because this is obviously a trivial matter by comparison, but it's symptomatic of the same reflexive reaction of authority figures - close ranks and blame everyone else. Although this is a nothing event in comparison, it illustrates the small-minded attitudes that can have devastating consequences at times when it does matter.
there's good reason. there is no video. there are angles from all sides available and Roberton never ever touches him ergo you get talking heads just repeating a lie, a straight out proven lie as it suits their narrative. you'll note lfc have not uttered a word. why? cos they know if they say Robertson didn't touch him then the fa will go full bore to find him.guilty on abusive language or some other effect up to and including xenophobia etc to get even. I am fairly sure we are hunkered down hoping this goes away
Get the feeling that if Bayern can either get a draw or be only 1 goal behind, they'll fancy themselves back in Munich.
bayern were not to bothered to take a risk so I didn't bother watching after 10mins. some sides really make first legs dull as dishwater
bayern out. tuchel is not a manager to chase any score..Once 1 went in it was largely over. they looked risk averse and unwilling to try get beyond city at any time. a typical tuchel performance.
Yeah, think I quoted it further up because he just blithely refers to 'another player manhandling an official' in a passive-aggressive hand-wringing whine without anybody actually challenging him as to describing this manhandling. I mean even when they accompany the story with a video (or two from different angles), you still get dicktossers on newspaper readers' comments sections, writers themselves, and of course, our dear truth-haters on the Prem Board rehashing the 'manhandled' ****e again and again. It sort of reminds me of the defence tactic in the Rodney King case all those years ago to just keep showing, again and again, the police beating King up and accompanying it with a narrative that, despite what was in front of their eyes, it really wasn't all that bad. And so it is with this - it's debatable if there's any contact at all, but nonetheless, some troll, either on here or on the web, will scream black is white that if you watch the video enough then it's clear Robbo 'shoves', 'grabs' and 'manhandles' him. They then go on to cite Mitrovic (and occasionally Fernandes) to 'prove' their assertions. They did it, and so, therefore, did Robbo. Demented.
Not sure if it’s complete ignorance or just full on stupidity that couple Newcastle fans aren’t aware that saying ‘Liverpool fans always the victim’ isn’t something that relates to hillsborough
Sounds like city just destroyed Bayern. Prob city’s best chance yet now. Madrid in the semi who will be very dangerous but just feel with Haaland they finally have that player to score those decisive goals when it counts
The vast majority of Newkie fans were fantastic over Hillsborough - the best English fans outside of Merseyside. I wouldn't worry about the 'loids swamping this place and the rest of social media atm as they're just the gobshites that Chelsea and City developed when they become nouveau riche - in fact don't be surprised if some actually are ex Chelsea and City, even ex Blackburn fans from the 90s.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65249665 i got 19/20 i didn't get the watford one but you can only guess at ten before the time runs out and they have had 400 it feels like.
The retaliation argument isn't even a valid one anyway - at least it isn't when it's applied to players. I do think that players generally behave badly towards officials anyway, and it's not acceptable for me - but like you say it's the inflammatory language used to make out Robbo acted worse than he did that annoys. Football would lack it's competitive edge without the tribalism, but it can go way too far.
How did arsenal get CLOSE to a league title? First arteta was appointed in december 2019 and he didn't have a great start but luckily for him far frank lumpard was the fa cup final rival so taking that trophy secured him some time. Summer 2020: Partey (scumbag) and gabriel arrive. odengaard is taken on loan. They spend about 60mil net. This is targetting 3 obvious weaknesses in squad summer 2021: White, ramsdale, odengaard (permanent) tomiasyu and samba arrive (this is major 120mil outlay) Summer 2022: Man city complete the arsenal jigsaw with jesus and zinchenko. Willing runners and workers. They waste money on vieira Amongst this Saka and martinelli emerge (smith row, willock etc also emerge Arsenal probabaly now have the most potent forward 4 in the country. Martnelli off left with jesus up top and saka on the right with odengaard in an advanced role. Theres bag of energy and running in this and most sides struggle to contain this. The back line is marginally better with the function white at RB, gabriel saliba and zinchenkoi at the back you can get goals off this lost, especially with the palm it anywhere ramsdale at the back. the midfield duo holding is the criminal and the madman. The great advantage they had was they were only in the europa and ran out of steam in it. they managed those games and focused on the league. they were average in the cups as well. in many ways this reminds me of LFC 2017/18 which just came together but was missing a couple things to deliver. In many ways arsenal have this unique shot to win the title but could easily implode and fall short if city juggernaut this thing again. For me its all baout the front 4 with arsenal whereas at the back they are just not quite as good. Add in more expectations and the higher demands of the CL next year and they could easily be a distant 4th. Caicedo does look a good shoult by them but buys like jorginho and vieira make me wonder. Comapre and contrast to LFC. Injured jota. watching him try to get fit is sad but necessary Injured Diaz. major loss Constantly niggly injured to nunez injured firmino Ran out salah We cannot drive form the front with that lot. ou results are already baked in as we have no get up and go to push sides and stretch tem. Is arsenal's so so back line much better than ours? who knows. Is arsneals two scum midfield a long term solution for them? nope. If i look at LFC for next season we need to probably accept no europe at all or be willing to play elliott, doak and say gakpo in it. Diaz nunez and salah need to form a new front 3 with drive and vigour and stay fit. We need a more energetic midfield to join them
