......Neil Harris describing Gills performance at Northampton !.....what does it say for his tactics ?

I didn't go to the game - I watched the match on television... I thought it was brilliant. The entertainment was first class... The excitement was incredible....The final result was 'up in the air' until the closing moments....Both teams were crazy in trying everything to score as many as possible - and to outscore each other...It was one of the best games I have watched...Both teams deserved huge credit for an incredible game ................. of cricket !

....I'm sorry - didn't you realise that I was talking about the IPL game yesterday - half of which was on at the same time as a crap performance by The Gills.... I wished I had watched the whole game of the 20 over match - The half that I tuned into after the Gills crap had finished was truly brilliant....The IPL never disappoints to entertain - and I can't get enough of it - unlike the crap at Northampton -- but, to be fair -- the home team were equally guilty of excrement ! Northampton will seriously need to improve if they get promoted.....As for Gills......

The performance wasn't very good...but it didn't help when Harris selected the wrong combination of personnel, and put right-footed players on the left side......and 'hoofed' the ball too many times.....and, as usual, sat way too deep for too long before the final whistle...It was crap that none of the players closed down the Northampton 2nd goal scorer -- who never should have had so much time and space 25 yards from goal ! - is it any wonder that he had a shot on goal ?

Before the match (( no, not the IPL one )), I said that Gills should be looking to use the final 6 games as a 'pre-season' for next year...and to attack the 'higher-placed' opponents with freedom...Yet again Harris was too negative...Yet again the number of goal attempts was woeful....It seemed that Harris only wants to try to not lose a game ! THAT should no longer be a priority. Gills may end up 22nd in the league if they lose the final 5 games of the season (( they WON'T finish in the bottom two )), but they need to use those games to use the only tactics that might bring greater success next season - and not tactics that which are crap to watch.

Surely you should no be now that Harris game plan is try not to lose games rather than win them especially away. So glad we have had a brilliant home record since January otherwise we would definitely been in a relegation scrap now.

Having been a supporter of Harris through the tough times, I think I can be a bit more critical now knowing that things are more balanced in the managers favour...

If I was Brad (which I'm quite clearly not lol) I'd have a difficult decision to make. Next season has to be about auto promotion, I want a return for my money - to get autos, our away form needs to improve, and well....it hasn't.

So do I give the man that already knows the players and the club, the pre season transfer budget or bring in a new head...dilemma, and I'm glad it's not a choice I have to make.

I like Neil Harris, but liking people, don't win you trophies. I've already said previously, there are only about three players in this team that I would keep. When we had Maddog (Martin Allen), I didn't even have to think about the players nor the manager, they got the job done.

Shannon (hope she don't mind me mentioning her) went to watch Chatham Town yesterday, I heard they also had a pretty decent attendance - probably the better choice of game to go and see tbph.

    Worth *mulling over...

*mull something over. to spend time thinking carefully about a plan or proposal synonym consider. I need some time to mull it over before making a decision.

The vulgar description was Harris' own word... I have actually seen worse ( even since January. ) I mentioned that Harris can have a different agenda for the last few games - other than ultra negativity - which led to crap defending ( or lack of ), and concession of the 2nd goal........ as for the IPL - just pure entertainment - worth my Sky subscription on its' own.
