They are a pleasure to watch at times. Still young and make mistakes but the overall trajectory is upwards fast. Hopefully we can sneak into the top 6. We all know what this group is capable of in the play offs!
Kick and rush at its finest, thought we'd left lumpball behind last season, watched first half of their game on Friday and it was awful, then we had the feast which was us v Hull, light years in difference.
Luton and Preston are the in form teams, all the other teams in the chasing pack are in similar form to us - whoever puts together a winning run will join Luton & Preston in the play-offs.
Two places already booked by Boro and Luton imo so there's two left between up to six candidates, talk about a tight finish, he who holds their nerve from here on in.
How often does a team feck it up at the death, its not only us. How many time have we scored late late goals, forget Hull its gone.
looks to me only 6th place is up for grabs, blackburn are in **** form if preston keep it up its theirs.
Win our last 5 games (unlikely) and we'll make 6th I reckon FWIW I think it's too soon, but **** it let's see what happens if we did make the top 6
If it came to the crunch we'd have 6000 down at Preston on the last day ... ... we were level at Sheff Wed, in the play off semi, and held our nerve in front of a hostile crowd. It's a long shot but, after the problems we've had this season, I'd class scraping into sixth, on goal difference, as equal to the great escape with Allardyce. Many of us dreamed of a mid table finish, some feared a relegation fight ... ... to be in with a chance of promotion is incredible.
Bit of a ridiculous statement. You aren’t ready to go up until we’re as good as a team pushing the top 4? There’s never a good time to go up. It’s what you do in the summer when you know you’ve been promoted. We stay in the championship for too long our best players will be off. You need to remember there’s 3 teams coming down from the premier league who are stronger and stronger than the last 3 who were relegated every year. Next season I’d imagine the likes of Norwich and Watford will kick on too.
We've got to hold our nerve for the next two home games when you consider our home form....get six points and it really is game on. The way were playing away from home holds no fear for me.
Not what I said - Brighton and Bretnford were able to compete straight away, then over the next couple of seasons they improved and are now pushing the top 6 or so What I mean is that we need to be strong enough to a) compete and b) push on in the following seasons without massive investment and by trusting the recruitment process
This season reminds me a bit of the 1989-1990 season, our form away from home was solid with the columination of beating the mags in the play-off semi and the home form a bit hit and miss.
Well I was hoping for a decent middle eight kind of finish, and that was without knowing we'd play most of the season without a centre forward, the manager would scarper and we would have a huge plague of injuries. That's already exceeded, so it's all a bonus to me now, and as TM says, there is no pressure on the players. Just on the managers though, while I thought Neil did very well here, I do think that if he had been faced with the same lack of striking options, we would have been significantly worse off. I just haven't seen the imagination or belief in young players in his teams that would have seen him handle the problem as well as TM has done. It's been a long time since I enjoyed watching so much.
