They can't just **** off. They'd have to sell the club and that process could take months if not years. Asset stripping would not help them do this. Besides, there's absolutely no evidence of them wanting out.

I know I'm Mr negative but anyone can see they've risked the long term security of the club! <laugh>

We're losing the ££££ of the PL for god knows how long. All through decisions they've made. I'm not for a second suggesting they've done it deliberately, but they've certainly been reckless and arrogant

I can see an argument for arrogance (Ankersen is guilty there IMO) but reckless - no.

I'm intrigued to know how many on here trust SR for next season. I'd start a poll, I know how much you love them <cool>

They should be. This player power attitude towards officials has been going on far too long. The RU seem to have got it about right.

They would certainly need a change in personel before most fans would trust them, I would cut them some slack were it not for the fact that they have called every big decision incorrectly. I believe that their intentions are 100% and that they are committed to Southampton being a successful and well-run business. Unfortunately, there has been litlle evidence in 15 months that they can do this. They are not as good as they believe themselves to be.

Yeah I agree they are financially invested despite the Times story and intend for the club to be a success. Hopefully they will persist in this sense as it would be a bad investment for Solak to drop us after relegation.

Unfortunately when it comes to the football they have been completely inept, but relegation should hopefully be a big enough wake up call for them to reevaluate their strategy and learn…. Hopefully anyway.

Imo we have been relegated because they rushed into moneyball a season too early, rather than spending last Summer fixing the glaring issues in the squad first. The appointment of Jones then sealed the deal.

This season we will be relegated for 3 reasons.

    1. Nathan Jones
    2. Nathan Jones
    3. Nathan Jones.

Not his fault he took the job - that is on SR, but he was such a twat that I blame him as much as them.

Unless we end up getting relegated by 10+ points (which definitely could still happen) then it is very easy to say the main reason we went down was Jones. 3 points from a possible 27 against (mainly) crap opponents, you would think a competent manager might have got a fair few more than that which ultimately may have kept us up.

If I had to blame one area for why we are going down (although everyone is to blame to an extent) I’d blame the players. Specifically the senior ones who have been **** for 18 months and the real blessing when we go down is a rebuild where we can hopefully get rid of the majority of them and build something new.

In my opinion that is too simplistic although I agree that we could have salvaged our season with a manager who knew what he was doing. I happen to think that we would have faired much better had we started the season with a proven goal-scorer and got the campaign underway with a few wins. I do not feel we were a poor team in August although I would concede that Ralph had probably should have been replaced in the summer.

Employing Jones was a massively poor decision and made worse by the fact that they had monitored him for a while. Given his personality was well known within the game, they should have stayed away. They keep making errors regarding personalities with Orsic being amongst the latest. For all the statistics they use, they do not appear to check what kind of personality they are employing. In the case of Jones, this was a massive error. The reports all suggested that Jones came out best amongst the candidates they interviewed but I cannot see how SR did the necessary due diligence. I suspect they had made their decision before interviewing the other candidates. In my opinion, SR must take the rap as much as Jones but there were underlying issues dating back to February 2022 that they failed to address or thought they had resolved which undermined the season. The opportunity to reboot after the World Cup was squandered yet to pin everything on Nathan Jones ignores some fundemental errors made in the summer such as letting Romeo leave. As I have said, too many decisions made by SR have proved to be the wrong ones - it is just that appointing Jones was the one that everyone could see did not make sense.

Do you think he carries cue cards to remind him which club he's at this week?

As far as I’ve heard Rangers fans are somewhat less than satisfied with his contribution as well…

He is definitely the reason we failed to improve at all, in fact getting worse to boot, but the situation was already getting hopeless before he came as a result of his predecessor, either not being removed earlier, ie end of last season, or his inability to set the team up, and/or a failure to motivate the players in the present season. SR are culpable for sure, the buck stops on their table for poor appointments and buying in a way no one seems to understand.
