I know this is a forum of discussion but we don’t have ANY idea of who’s going to be here next year in the Championship. Of course there’s some “educated guesses” but in reality we don’t have a clue. Not even the manager! From what I read on here, looks like we’re coming straight back up. I’m very much half glass full but in my wildest dreams I can’t see that happening. I remember a raining eve in Derby. Who knows tho? Had a ST for more decades than I can remember & next year I get a discount but looks like I’ll have to forgo; stuff just happens! Personally I’m still in shock at how miss managed we’ve been by SR this season & especially surprising since it’s their £. Ps. Loving that we don’t have VAR next season but with my / our luck it’ll be introduced in Champ next season. Pps. WHU was our final chance - we failed by a fcuking mile.
Unsurprisingly Watford have shot the themselves in the foot, by changing their manager twice. They panicked after only picking up 3 wins from their first 10 games. Interestingly though Burnley only managed 4 wins from their first 12 (and just 1 from the first 5). Difference being Burnley stuck with their manager. Think it will be similar for us. Will take time adjusting to the league.
I'd want to keep Stu Armstrong. I know he's been a bit off this season but he's still got a couple more seasons in him (at Championship level). On his day he is arguably our best creative player. We don't gain much by letting him go. Sulemana, I'm just not sure anyone will be willing to pay the required £20m for him, and if they are, he'd have to consider whether he'll get much game time wherever it is. I'd think it shouldn't be tough to persuade him to stay. Perraud would be a key player next season so he's another one we need to convince. Not sure he walks into any other Prem team but maybe he'll be tempted with a move abroad. Wouldn't be against keeping Aribo either. Championship is such as drop in quality that he could be a changed player. Even Adarma, Lyanco, and Bree would all be good squad members. Happy to keep them all.
Hesitate to agree as it'll incur the wrath of most on here but your comments reflect mine. If he is our outstanding player then it's no surprise to me that we are so crap. Protected by Romeu for several seasons to me JWP comes across as a decent lad but he ain't the Bryan Robson type of positive midfielder or leader that merits the number of consecutive games that he plays, never subbed even if he has poor impact on the game. Granted his free kick success from around twenty metres is outstanding but I get frustrated that he seems to be the only player trusted to take dead ball kicks, we are so predictable in that, and most, areas of our game.
When we play well he looks fantastic to me but football is a game of opinions. We have zero attacking threat this year and as a result I think it makes him look worse as we have zero forward movement is any of our games. Even the boards darling Adams just drops to want the ball to feet while Stu and Ely are ridiculously slow. He covers more ground per game than anyone in the Premier League, he is fiesty in the middle and recycles the ball well. I think people who take your stance will realise how effective he can be with the right players around him once he is gone. I don't buy the Romeu protected him nonsnese personally, they formed an effective partnership and even this year we look quite solid in the middle with JWP and Lavia when he is fit. Diallo on the other hand is far more regressive than Prowsey, doesn't run as much or cover anywhere near as much ground and gives the ball away frequently when passing sideways. Basically Prowsey does everything Diallo does better and has more strings to his bow. You can't expect one of our 2 in man pivot to do everything going forwards as well? Talk about unrealistic expectations for a single player.
Interested to see who the next manager will be, because I don’t think we’ll extend Selles’s contract. I wasn’t against having Marsch when he was linked, and in a division below I think he’d be great, but seems to be going to Leicester. I find it odd that he’d go there now rather than waiting until the end of the season. I could see Steve Cooper getting sacked and us going for him. Maybe we’ll get Ralph back You’d like to think we’ll have one of the best squads and biggest budgets in the Championship, so we’ll be an attractive project for someone like Cooper. No way we’ll get Potter.
Think Marsch is going for the Leicester job because if he waits until the summer, then the offer won't be there any more, because someone like Potter will take the job (if they stay up of course).
1000000000000% this. Lavia and JWP are top half premier league players. Everyone else around them is the problem; not them. They have to pass backwards and sideways because the rest of the 11 are utter morons most weeks.
Given his knowledge and success in the Championship, and history of coaching young players, Cooper could be an excellent fit for us next season. It does require Forest to sack him first. But I can see it happening at some point.
I like Ruben, but we need a new manager to come in like a breathe of fresh air. A huge squad overhaul and get the confidence levels improved
Yep, I dont know what all the fuss is with Tella. Quiet simply he is our player. If someone else wants him, then Id imagine we’d be asking c. £18-20m. If not, look forward to 20+ goals from him next season. Have we announced Season Ticket prices yet for next season? Was thinking about gettin one if we go down.
Forget winning the championship. The owner has £110m loan to repay very soon and looks odd-on to saddle the club with his debt leaving no room for manoeuvre. Another fit and proper person buying a club with leveraged capital - the Glazers did the same at Man U and piled debt on the club. Be afraid saints fans.
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...o-pay-back-110m-loan-by-end-of-2024-kxstj33pv Or we accept the explanation that it’s unrelated . Either way the club will make over £100m from player sales this summer from 3 or 4 players alone.
