That was the popular opinion at the time. Forget where I heard it, probably from Tom Wilson, but the ball flew into the net off the knee of Harry Cripps so it is believed.

Stoke was 1971. Dave Dewberry had taken enough names to fill 3 buses for the semi final after the second went in. Then a rush of blood to head let that ginger twat Conroy in just before half time. A goal from a throw in which should have been ours and was offside and Banks pulling the ball back from behind the line robbed us of a win. I will get over it given time.<laugh>
My dad was relieved. My uncle was friends with a lot of the high ups at Leeds, used to play golf with Revie , a former chairman and two of the directors. He had booked first class on the Pulman for the final against Chelsea and a weekend in a swanky hotel for him and his wife . He then had a heart do and couldn’t go. He offered me the tickets but
I said I would only want to go to see City. He was managing director of a company and told union rep to put everyone’s name into a draw and pick out a winner. My dad said that if City ever got to the Cup Final he would organise the same for me. He said he was a very relieved man when I got home as he thought at 2-0 he was going to have to pay out.
We played Stoke at their place the following year but were well beat though Waggy put another past Banks. Bankside paid Waggy the compliment of saying he was a player he wouldn’t like to play against every week.

Hitchhiked from Leeds that morning. Took ages to queue at the turnstyles, so ended up at the top of the terraces between North & East stands. Difficult to see Waggy's goals unfortunately. Shouldn't have dropped into Five Ways pub on the way to the match.
    Ouch...

Will LIam shuffle the pack today, there must be some tired legs, the likes of Traore and Allahyar being out for so long, is this game a bit of a risk to play them?

I was one of the 'nippers' who sat at the side of the pitch in the corner between bunkers and kempton - I also remember a few years later when one of the millwall fans ran on the pitch and kung fued the ref running on from a small contingent on the north stand

I remember being at the Leeds v Sunderland replay which was held at Boothferry Park, and a woman came out of the Kempton and hit Jonny Giles over the head with her handbag.

    Just landed at Heathrow.
If the ****ing luggage ever arrives on this empty carousel then I might even make the train which will get me back in time to get to the game.
Luggage seems to be taking longer than the flight! :emoticon-0121-angry

I am in awe of those on here who travel from afar to attend home matches. Boston, Massuchusetts though? Not sure why you need luggage for a City game though.

Please provide a 30 min progress update. I'm invested in the outcome.

Change at Farringdon, saves about 20 minutes. All good if you have time though.

I’ve just crossed Yarm Viaduct, for those with an interest.

I think he’s going to have to shuffle, which will be a shame as I loved the last starting lineup.

I think Traore is a big factor in us looking dangerous going forward, so if he doesn’t play, I expect fewer chances.

I’ve just landed on the Dump Station. The 11:00 drop has landed early.
