The 49'ers desire for a US manager and US players has really screwed us. Marsch wasted a year, and the 3 players can't hack it. It's just their money, but so much more to the supporters.
I’m not sure that was a ‘must win’ game. But I’m fairly sure it was a ‘must not lose 1-5 at home’ game.
I would have been ok with a draw but they are just taking the piss with this capitulation. An absolute ****ing disgrace.
Rhinos won in the end 18-17 Shows what spirit and fight can do, maybe send our lot down there to do some training, mentally and physically.
Regarding the football. I've been saying for a while that Pep himself couldn't turn these ****s around. They are mentally weak. As a certain coach said they are scared.
3 very different managers not been able to get much of a tune from these players, think we need a new squad not a new manager. Worryingly I don’t know where we’re going and we’ve lost all our identity. Going down or being a lower table team until we go down. Won’t be able to get rid of players meaning we’re stuck with them which also means we probably won’t be able to buy too many more and that’s if we stay up. Very hard run in now.
The majority of the current crop were assembled under Jesse, Bielsa never clapped eyes on 7 of those who played today. First season back with Bielsa we exceeded, second season could be argued injuries. Not getting a smooth transition from Bielsa to the next guy in charge hasn’t helped. As a club we just kept bringing in Jesse targets as he has limited skills as a coach and couldn’t work with what we had. We’ll be safe, Leicester deserve to go down if they think Jesse is better than Rogers
That same coach signed how many of those scared players. Weston, Roca, Aaronson the three of them were so weak as a unit today. Palace cut through the middle at will The KP haters would have been all over him had he been in this team today yet the three of them together were woeful Gracia showed why he isn’t the man to lead us out next season, our entire play was ping it out wide, nothing through the middle Jack just blindly crossing it into the box where Bamford was on his own. I might have forgives him had he picked him out. In comparison when Palace attacked there were 3-4 players running into our box. Aaronson falls over like a feather, the majority of the team were more interested in trying to win free kicks than be creative I’d love to know what changed after 20 minutes, did Roy make an adjustment, it really was like someone threw a switch
It's a mentality thing. To be brutally honest it started to appear as soon as they had some success under Bielsa. All of a sudden they decide that they are Billy Big Bollocks and have cracked it. That's a normal human trait, I've seen it elsewhere. Our problem is that we are that mentally weak that instead of having a hard reset and going back to basics, our players start to hide, take the easy option, get sent off, get niggly injuries, sulk, have tantrums and the list could go on. It's a cowards way out. An example today could easily be Gnonto. He's been a sub, press say he's unhappy with Javi. He came on and basically just wanted to kick anything that moved. He should have been sent off for two yellows. That is a cowards way out. That just screws us over for the next game. I get it, he's a young kid but that mentality comes from within the dressing room, among the older pros. We lack leaders. Real men who take responsibility, grab others by the scruff of the neck and get everyone organised. It doesn't come from coaches, it comes from within a player. When the going gets tough, our lot give up. It's not the first or last time it will happen. It's not Bielsa or Marsch or Javi. It's a lack of backbone and it's rife at the club.
Gnonto has been like that for a while now, I’ve said before he needs an arm around his shoulder and showing where that boundary is. We never learnt a thing when Bielsa left, we just went out and blindly brought players requested by a coach we didn’t back Yes I’m glad we eventually got shot of him but the damage was already done. We should have got shot of Jesse before the World Cup and got someone decent in. Instead it’s a **** show and total embarrassment where we have white smoke after one day and a week later our third choice has said no. We then look set to sign some guy who’s last team lead a mutiny against him, social media goes into meltdown so we change our minds. Then we end up with someone we’d have thought was an early April fools joke any other time, but hey anybody’s better than nobody back to the game and your comments, Roca also had a moment in the second half where he was incensed that a foul had been given against him, I was sure the next tackle he was going all in and would be off. Thankfully he didn’t get near anyone for the next 2-3 minutes
This was the Derby play off capitulation all over again. That's what it reminded me of. We just lose our heads, blame everybody else and just shrug our shoulders like its someone else's problem. As for Javi, I feel for him having to try and sort this shower of cowards out but bringing Kristensen on at left back was ridiculously dumb. Cooper is a natural leader and should have come on for Firpo with Struijk going to left back. At that point you need leaders and he failed to recognise that. On a final note before I **** off to bed, if we capitulate like that a week on Monday and get stuffed at ER again by Liverpool then I don't think we will recover the season from there. If we stand any chance of getting back on the horse we have to go well against Liverpool. There has to be a reaction otherwise I see us going in to last February's results for the foreseeable.
...and while I'm ranting, this 'leadership group' should address the players from todays game on Monday and suggest they don't take a wage this week and instead donate it to the supporters trust or to the local children's hospice.
The substitutions were poor, changes should have been made at half time. I know he scored the first but I don’t get Bamford over Rodrigo and yes the Kristensen for Firpo decision was totally wrong in the fact it should have been Cooper Ayling was dribbled past 6 times and gave the ball away 31 times, that’s another shocker of a performance and why he wasn’t subbed is a weird one.
Strikers that can’t strike, defenders that can’t defend… but hey just need a new manager to teach them a thing or two and everything will be ok We’ve played nice stuff in patches under gracia, the challenge for him is he said the problem was the defence, and that was going to get his attention… but the defence has been worse under him than it was under marsch. In my view people were too busy complaining about ‘headless chickens’ to notice how much the aggressive press disrupted the opposition and made us hard to play against. Yes we were open when it was beaten, but today shows what our defence looks like when you let the opposition play. 5 today, 4 at Arsenal, wolves probably should have had 4.
The commentators were raving about the finish from paddy, but looked to me like it came off the top of his head I understand the argument that bamford offers more to the team, but Rodrigo is the goal threat this season, so I’m surprised he’s not starting. Fitness?
Rodrigo was an unused sub on the 11th March, a week later he played over 20 minutes against Wolves. I’d be surprised if he was being left out on fitness concerns but who knows, it’s a weird one. Two days short of a month since he returned and he’s not fit, I find that hard to accept
