We've now removed ourselves from Europe and become a race of people who need to be double checked ...

... and people who aren't allowed to visit friends in 26 countries or travel around Europe for more than three months. Me and Mrs Smug spent eight months towing our boat down through Italy to Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica then back to Nice. Just as well we took the chance, we'd be banned now.

"On top of facing travel chaos at several airports in the UK, British tourists are also facing long queues when they arrive at their destination. According to complaints on social media, some travellers have had to wait up to three hours to get through passport control in Spain.

Long queues have been reported at airports in holiday hotspots including Majorca, Alicante and Malaga. This is due to the extra checks needed at passport control since Brexit.

UK holidaymakers are only allowed to remain in the Schengen area (a free movement area made up of 26 countries including Spain) for 90 out of 180 days. Every passenger must get their passport inspected manually and date-stamped by police on arrival and departure."

I thought the whole point of "Brexit" was to free us from these faceless bureaucrats tied up in red tape. <laugh>

If you're used to travelling the world then perhaps you are used to the procedures.

For EU citizens who are accustomed to freedom of movement perhaps its just a step they don't wish to take.

The issue that worries me is not how easy or not it is to travel. If you want come and visit Buckingham palace or Rooch's garden you will find a way. It is how people in Europe see us and how welcoming they think we are. I can see nothing other than a drop off in visitors due to us thinking we are better off out if the EU. They probably think we are an arrogant bunch of tossers.

The Tunnel, along with the ferries, was supposed to make a weekend break to Paris or nipping across to Calais on a booze cruise a breeze. But the delays and bureaucracy have made it too much bother for many. And it seems Europeans are starting to feel the same about coming here.

I may be totally wrong but the problems caused by Brexit seem to be increasing.

And you honestly believe it’s our fault this is happening and not the Eurocrats, do you think this would be happening if they didn’t exist. You don’t seem to be happy unless you and your bestie aren’t pulling Britain to bits. I seem to remember everything worked perfectly before they trudged their army of eurotwats out and decided to control how everyone lived and stuffed their back pockets full of our cash. But you don’t because you are to busy pulling Britain to bits every chance you get.

Brexit was always going to be bad rubbish in my opinion. How you can ever come up with a deal that is great for you when you are negotiating against 20 others is beyond me. I do my share of negotiation and wouldnt want to be involves in that one.

One of my problems with Labour is they claim they will make brexit work. I do not believe they can. I dont think anybody can. We are stuck with the thin end of the wedge for years. The people I feel sad for is the younger generation. I wonder if we had allowed teenagers to vote on something that would have such a negative impact on them would we still be in the EU.

At some point politicians need to stop arguing about who can do the best Brexit deal, ot who can make it work. We will always be worse off as a result of it. I would have respect for one of the parties if they said sorry all we know being outside of the EU is ****e so if we win the next election we will rejoin. I dont really understand why it would be such a bad decision either personally. When you do something, and it turns out rubbish, you try to undo it. Other than when running the country it seems...

I'm not pulling Britain to bits, I love it and hate to see the mess it's in.

You seem to confuse the current government and the country which are two entirely different things and, if you believe this current administration is above criticism you're deluded.

As far as Brexit is concerned, yes I believe it was a huge mistake. The NFU certainly aren't impressed and, after years, we still don't seem to be seeing the glorious benefits we were promised.

The EU has every motivation to make it rubbish for us mate. They will have for years to come. I have no doubt they are responsible for a lot of our challenges. The last thing they want is the UK to make a success of leaving the EU. That would be like turkeys voting for christmas. It is why it was always a pipe dream thinking we would be better off. In my opinion anyway. It is not a tory thing. Labour stood by that bloody bus as well. They all got us in the mess, and none of them have a clue how to get us out of it.

Of all the negative aspects of Brexit I regret the fact that our young people can no longer just choose to go nannying in the Alps through the winter or grape picking in Provence in late summer.

We're becoming more and more insular and isolated which is a shame imo.

There is only one person deluded on here mate and you’ll see him when you have a shave tomorrow, again do you think it’s our fault that our farmers are struggling or the eu money pocketers. What do you think would happen if they didn’t exist and just the countries governments ran things and they kept the billions and billions your mates hive off.
You love Britain <laugh> read your posts man, you detest the place.
