We have played most of the season as if their was no pressure , if it had not been for the unprecedented amount of injuries we have suffered we would have been further up the table - we have a lot of talent within the club and keeping the squad together has to be the aim . The recruitment team is hard at work and I am sure they will identify the players we need to further improve the squad .
100% stewart not getting a big move in the summer, and we arent going to get top dollar due to his injuries n contract. Therefore, i would just him see his contract out, he doesnt seem the type to spit his dummy out so will still work hard. Hopefully he signs a new deal but what will be will be, not worrying about it. Had messages from a few scouting mates yesterday and they were raving about us. They were saying how much they love getting sunderland games now as its a joy to watch us. One mentioned, who has been a PL scout for 15/20 yrs, that hardly any top-flight teams used to send scouts to sunderland games but now theres loads. He was there yesterday watching a couple of our players and said theres even a lot of scouts from overseas clubs now at our games. Really exciting times and its great to even see the buzz on here - we dont all agree with certain things but we are all loving our club again
A very entertaining evening with a cruel ending. Defence was all over the shop after such a strong display against Burnley. It’s a pleasure to watch some of our attacking football and Neil I thought was instrumental in a lot of the good things that happened last night. The play offs may be a prize that’s out of our reach and I’m not to bothered about that consolidation was always the aim this season. There are some decent teams above us but would you really want to watch Luton or Millwall every week when we have a group of exciting youngsters playing some of the best football I’ve seen in many a season. There’s been times in the not to distant past when we would have given up at 3-2 down but this group roll their sleeves up and score a fantastic goal to put us back ahead. Yes the squad needs strengthening and I’m sure it will be. On we go to Cardiff and whatever team Mowbray puts out I’m sure that they will all give 100 per cent win lose or draw. Keep the faith lads and lasses.
Haha i did dont worry, no idea who he was watching but hes at a mid table PL side at the minute. He is a huge fan of dan ballard and i know hes been up to watch him this season so not sure who he was watching last night
Gets no credit for being in the right place at the right time? For not ****ing up the shot like Clarke did? Feels like Gelhardt could score a hat trick and still get negative comments from people
Am certain that our highly experienced manager is so indiscreet that he gives away sensitive club information to equally indiscreet folk who will offer it up to all and sundry
Not at all. He scored a tap in. And pressed. That's it. Given the fact he has scored 2 since January, a Hatrick would be amazing. He isn't good enough. Performances and stats show this. Not his fault but it's an objective view.
He is a professional athlete from a PL club. He isn't a charity case mate. He has been a massive disappointment.
I don't think the club will let him see his contract out. If he's not signing a new deal, we will sell. £5-6m to Stoke would feel like a huge disappointment to me though and I'd rather keep him.
If you judge him purely as a goal threat, then he was ok. Last night looked to me like we'd found a way to play without a striker. His pressing was excellent, his movement was very good and he dragged players out of position. He occupied defenders and allowed Clarke and Amad to capitalise on that space.
Sorry fella but I deal with reality not rose tinted glasses. It's ok to say he has been **** you know.
I do judge him as a goal threat. He is our main striker. 2 in 12 I think it is. In a very free scoring team too. I am very surprised at how poor he is. Doesn't seem to stike the ball clean too.
It is, but he’s not a No.9, but is being asked to lead the line having never done so before. He’s improving but will never be an out and out striker. You might as well play Ba up front
Ok so we agree he is not the answer and not doing enough ? So justified criticism then? If BA can do his job he must be very ineffective.
